The Role
We are seeking a kind, patient, and enthusiastic Personal Support Classroom Assistant (PSCA) to work on a 1:1 basis with a child who has cerebral palsy in our Junior School in Year 1.

You will play a key role in ensuring that all pupils at the school are able to access an award-winning International Baccalaureate education. This is an unparalleled opportunity to join us at an exciting time in the School’s history, as we approach the 150th anniversary of the School’s founding.

**Main Areas of Responsibility**:

- Work collaboratively with the child's teacher, therapists, and other professionals to develop and implement an Individual Education Plan (IEP) tailored to the child's specific needs.
- Provide physical assistance to the child throughout the school day, ensuring their safety and comfort in various settings (classroom, playground, etc.).
- Assist the child with mobility and personal care needs as required, promoting independence wherever possible.
- Facilitate the child's communication and participation in classroom activities, adapting resources and tasks as necessary.
- Encourage the child's independence, communication, and social development.
- Maintain clear and concise records of the child's progress in line with school procedures.
- Build a strong and trusting relationship with the child, their family, and the wider school team.
- Uphold the school's policies and procedures for health and safety, safeguarding, and inclusion.

You will have experience working with children with disabilities and a strong understanding of child development and the needs of children with disabilities. Experience using assistive technology, a basic understanding of Manual Handling techniques and a clear understanding of the PYP philosophy and its learner profile would be desirable.
