A versatile gardener is needed to maintain and develop the gardens and grounds of a private family estate between Truro and Falmouth in south Cornwall. The garden covers 15 acres and includes lawns, orchard, shrubberies, a flower garden, glasshouses including vines and citrus trees, and a woodland garden. There is also a walled garden, growing fruit and vegetables and a cutting garden using a no dig system. This is set in parkland and surrounded by fields and woodland.

You are an enthusiastic gardener and have a proven full range of estate gardening skills. You can work alone and with others including a team of volunteers and have the usual certificates in spraying (PA1/PA6), brushcutting and chainsaw (CS30/CS31) use and are able to maintain estate machinery and equipment. Provision of wood for a large log boiler is part of the job.

As the post will involve occasional work in the woodlands and from time to time at other estate properties a driving licence is essential. There will be frequent use of ATV and use of a small tractor.

You are of course personable, honest, reliable and flexible, giving attention to detail whilst retaining a wide vision. Mutual trust and loyalty are essential. You will be able both to take direction from the estate owners and to work with a high level of autonomy, planning and carrying out your own work to an agreed work schedule.

40 hours per week Monday to Friday, 28 days holiday including bank holidays.

Salary range £28,000 - £30,000
