Wigan, United Kingdom Vets for Pets Full time

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and passionate Veterinary Care Assistant to join our Wigan practice.

Our practice is bright, spacious, air-conditioned and purpose built to industry leading standards and has state of the art equipment including digital X-ray and in-house laboratory facilities.

The VCA role here is a very important one and one that we have come to realise we cannot function without

**What your day will look like**

The role covers many responsibilities in aiding the smooth running of the day-to-day practice.

Our VCAs need to be helpful, accommodating, and friendly as one of the main roles is stopping whatever you are doing and helping the nursing team and vets. This may be in restraining a patient, disinfecting the table, or helping reception by answering the phone.

You need to be a quick learner in a fast paced, busy environment No two days are ever the same and practice life varies dramatically from welcoming excited new clients with their new puppy or kitten to assisting the nurses in dealing with an emergency or cuddling an old dog whilst we put him to sleep, and you need to be adaptable in dealing with these very differing situations.

We will provide training and support and an involved induction process to ensure you receive the training and direction to enable you to fulfil this valuable role.

If you share our passion for delivering outstanding pet healthcare, exceptional customer service and would like to join our team, then we would love to hear from you.

**The attributes required**
- You are the friendly and welcoming face for the client and their pets when they arrive at the practice.
- You are able to provide guidance by keeping yourself fully up-to-speed with the practice services and any additional services available.
- You are calm, attentive and always focus on the clients’ needs.
- You will bring enthusiasm and drive to your role. Your passion for service is matched with your love of pets.
- You can deal with everything that is thrown at you, from comforting a client who has had some bad news about their pet or sharing in the joy of a new puppy’s first visit to the vet.
- Your personality is infectious and along with your fellow colleagues, you create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere in the practice.

In short, you like to be busy, enjoy helping people and their pets and always endeavour to make a difference.

**Benefits**

In return, we offer such benefits as 20% discount at the Vet Group, Pets at Home and the Groom Room, access to discounts and cashbacks, in-house career development opportunities, pension and holiday allowance.
- Pets just see people. They aren’t biased and they don’t discriminate. We take our inspiration from pets, and we value and respect difference in all its forms. Our aim is to reflect the diversity of the communities we operate in, and every colleague can help us achieve this. We encourage our people to be themselves so even if your skills and experience don’t perfectly align, if you think you can make a unique contribution through your values and behaviours, we want to hear from you_
