Perinatal Assistant Psychologist

We are looking to recruit a full-time (37.5 hours per week) enthusiastic and knowledgeable Assistant Psychologist to join our specialist Cambridgeshire Perinatal Mental Health Service.

The post holder will be required to do a number of different tasks, which will include conducting psychological assessments and interventions under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist, development and facilitate therapeutic group interventions, undertake audits, service evaluations and data collection including input and analysis where appropriate, as well as working creatively to develop resources for use within clinical work with perinatal families.

The post is predominately based within the South Cambridge team; however, the post holder will also be expected to take on some work for the North Cambridge team.

The post holder will work as part of a Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service to ensure that women with severe and complex mental health conditions who are planning pregnancy, pregnant or have a child within the perinatal period, receive high quality, evidence-based specialist advice, consultation, liaison and education to professionals who work with women contemplating pregnancy and during the perinatal period.

The post holder will be based within the Cambridgeshire Perinatal Mental Health Team and will be part of a wider multi-disciplinary team between the North and South Cambridge Perinatal Mental Health Teams.

The post holder will be required to hold a small case load of patients for one to one therapy, as well as co-facilitating therapeutic groups alongside the MDT.

Under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist:

- Undertake clinically supervised work with clients on a one to one and group basis delivering brief psychological interventions
- Assist the multi-disciplinary team in meeting the needs of expectant or new mothers and their families through the formulation of care plans and the delivery of clinical interventions.
- Assist in clinically - related administration, conducting audits, collecting data and statistics, development of audit and /or service evaluation and research projects
- Participate in the assessment of needs, planning, implementation and evaluation of support programmes for mothers and their babies.
- Under supervision, assess and manage risk within an appropriate psychological framework
- To carry out brief psychological interventions (on an individual and group basis)
- To carry out carers assessments
