- Overgate Hospice is an independent charity with a mission to ensure that patients and those close to them live with the best possible quality of life. This is enabled by provision of the highest standard of compassionate and evidence-based specialist palliative and end of life care for adults in Calderdale who have active, progressive life limiting illness._
**JOB SUMMARY**
As the Communications and Marketing Lead you will play a key role in the Hospice Team, helping to shape the future of Overgate. You will be passionate about the provision of high
- quality care and committed to the Hospice values with an ability to inspire, motivate and empower those around you.
Reporting to the Head of Fundraising, Communications and Marketing, you will lead the communications and marketing function for the Hospice, ensuring all internal and external communications and marketing are of the highest standard.
You will be responsible for the delivery of the communications and marketing strategy, working collaboratively with the wider income generation team, ensuring all activities are properly evaluated, using this to inform future plans.
You will directly line manage a team of staff which includes the Graphic Designer, Digital
Officer, and Communications & Marketing Officers.
You will be responsible for ambitious marketing targets, managing the team’s performance against agreed KPIs.
Working with the Head of Fundraising, Communications and Marketing, you will be responsible for maintaining a robust programme of marketing activities to help the Hospice achieve its strategic objectives, including the need to increase awareness of Hospice services.
You will work closely with others to ensure an effective and cohesive income generation team, utilising each other’s skills to ensure the very best supporter care and that all opportunities for income generation are maximised.
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**
At least 3 years’ experience in a marketing or communications role.
Must be educated to A-Level or equivalent.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST**
Work with the Head of Fundraising, Communications and Marketing to develop the annual communication and marketing plan, detailing all communications to key stakeholders.
Work within the annual budget for the Communications and Marketing team, ensuring all processes are followed and best prices found.
Work with the fundraising leads to improve and maintain strong supporter journeys, developing an effective and innovative thanking process.
Lead on production of the bi-annual newsletter, working with the wider Hospice team to plan and source content, and coordinating the project with the mailing house.
Responsibility for the Hospice’s social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram,
LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube and TikTok. Ensure all content is engaging, appropriate, timely and in line with the Hospice’s values and strategy.
Lead on the promotion of Hospice awareness days and weeks, such as Hospice Care Week, creating action plans to engage and inspire staff, volunteers, and the local community.
Responsibility for building strong relationships with local press outlets, as well identifying opportunities to share stories on a regional and national level.
Responsibility for the Hospice’s internal intranet, ensuring content is appropriate and relevant, monitoring usage and identifying improvements.
Support the Head of Fundraising, Communications and Marketing with the creation of the
Annual Report and Accounts document.
Responsibility for the weekly staff news bulletin, working with the Graphic Designer to source engaging and appropriate content, and working to increase readership.
Offer creative advice to all departments, helping to promote their messages.
Effectively monitor these budgets throughout the year to ensure all opportunities for income generation are maximised and any concerns raised in a timely manner.
Ensure volunteers are appropriately recruited, engaged, managed, and supported to enable them to be successful in their roles.
Be an active and supportive member of the wider Income Generation team.
Deputise, as appropriate, for the Head of Fundraising, Communications and Marketing.
Ensure effective collaboration with the Capital Appeal team by sharing and sourcing contacts and experience to help to secure both core and capital income.
Ensure you keep up to date of Charity Law and fundraising developments across the sector by networking with other organisations, undertaking training, and abiding by the Charities
Act and Fundraising Regulator codes of conduct.
