We are looking for a passionate and experienced Senior support worker for a brand new Residential Children’s Home. You will work as part of a team to provide high-quality care and support for children and young people living in a residential children’s home.

You will be supporting children aged 8yr-18yr.

You will be responsible for supporting children to develop their independence, life skills, and social and emotional wellbeing. You will also ensure that the home provides a safe and nurturing environment for children to live and staff to be able to provide support.

Alongside the general day-to-day tasks you will also have the privilege of accompanying the Children you are supporting out on educational and personal interest based activities in the community helping to build their social confidence and skills.

**Roles and Responsibilities**:

- Work closely with the Management Team to ensure that the children’s home provides high-quality care and support that meets the needs of children and young people.
- Participate in the care and support planning for children living in the home, ensuring that their individual needs are identified and appropriately addressed.
- Provide basic care and support for children, including personal care, meal preparation, and support with household tasks.
- Support children and young people to develop their social and emotional wellbeing, and to develop independent living skills.
- Engage in creative activities and play with children to promote their physical, social, and intellectual development.
- Implement routines, boundaries, and consequences appropriately and consistently, in line with the home’s policies and procedures.
- Monitor and evaluate progress and development of children living in the home, recording observations, and providing feedback to the Team Leader or Service Manager.
- Work with other members of staff to ensure that the home is maintained to high standards of cleanliness, safety, and comfort.
- Ensure that health and safety procedures are implemented throughout the home, in line with regulatory and legislative requirements.
- Engage in professional development opportunities as appropriate, attending staff training and development sessions to improve personal and professional knowledge and development.

**Experience and Qualifications**:

- A minimum NVQ Level 3 in health & social care or residential childcare or related degree or professional qualification in a relevant field.
- Practical experience of working effectively with children/young people in care with a range of complex needs, as well as previous experience of operational/staff management within a social care environment.
- Demonstrable knowledge of working with children and young people known to be vulnerable and/or who have experienced trauma, with the ability to develop and implement appropriate strategies.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with children, staff, and other stakeholders.
- A commitment to promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults, and an understanding of the legislation, guidance and good practice that support the delivery of high-quality care in residential children's homes.
- Strong leadership and motivational skills with the capacity to take a positive and proactive approach to change management.
- Ability to demonstrate resilience in the workplace and to cope with change.
- Understanding of Ofsted inspection frameworks and associated regulations.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £24,000.00-£25,000.00 per year
