**Job description**:
Scratch the surface with a full-year Internship where you will join our analysis specialists in Active Travel England (ATE).

Our placements are designed to give you an insight into working within government on delivering its mission to make walking, wheeling and cycling an attractive choice for everyday trips.
- Our Data, Digital and Analysis directorate _provides data analysis, modelling, insight, and tools to support wider ATE activities. The Analysis team focuses on collating, modelling, and visualising data to provide insight into national strategies and policies. The Data and Digital team use data science and software development techniques to deliver the tools that transport authorities need to ensure cost effective investment in active travel._

We want you to challenge us, to question norms and to make the most of every opportunity.

During your placement, you will discover:

- The role of analysts in a government organisation,
- How we will transform how data and analysis is used in active travel planning,
- The tools upon which we can make a lasting change.

To get the most from your placement, you will spend at least 60% of your time on site in our York office. This way you can engage with other employees whilst learning and developing skills within a work-based context, having space to collaborate.

**Responsibilities**

**On your placement, you will**:

- Assisting with daily tasks related to your field of study
- Collaborating with various team members on projects
- Carrying out research and gathering data
- Attending and participating in meetings and workshops
- Creating and maintaining documentation and reports
- Learning about ATE’s policies, procedures, and culture
- Providing ideas and suggestions in brainstorming sessions
- Helping organise and manage events
- Performing administrative tasks as needed
- Observing and learning from experienced staff members

**Person specification**:
**We are looking for someone who is/has**:

- Studying for a degree in analysis (in your final two years at university)
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Good organisational skills and good attention to detail
- Hard working and motivated
- Open to taking on new roles/tasks and delivering quality results to set deadlines

**Additional Information**

A minimum **60%** of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace, although requirements to attend other locations for official business, or carry out detached duty in another DfT workplace, will also count towards this level of attendance.
