Full Time Female Support Workers

- **General duties and responsibilities**:
- Provide the highest standard of support at all times, meeting the support needs, as recorded in a person’s support plan.- Working as part of a team, you will contribute towards having a positive impact on the lives of the people we support by helping them to achieve their goals and aspirations, enabling them to lead a happy and fulfilling life.- Promote a positive working culture within the team by being supportive and working in partnership with your colleagues, to deliver the best care possible to the people we support.- You will help develop and maintain independent living skills for the people we support.- These include:
- Supporting people in accordance with their needs and wishes as detailed in their person-centred support plans.
- To demonstrate a commitment to the Safeguarding of Adults and to recognise and report any disclosure, suspicion or evidence of harm, risk of harm, abuse or neglect in line with Coquet Trust’s Safeguarding Adults policy.
- To ensure that support plans reflect the changing needs and wishes of the people we support by contributing to regular monitoring and review.
- To encourage and enable the people we support to become active members of both their local and wider communities.
- To support people to develop or maintain good family relationships and a range of friendships.
- Promote positive Risk Taking, Active Support and Positive Behaviour Support.
- To support people in all aspects of their daily living, for example, going shopping, cooking, keeping their home clean and tidy, budgeting and paying bills.
- To deliver personal care (if required) with dignity and respect.
- To support people to stay healthy and safe, following guidance from health professionals where health support is required.
- To accurately complete documentation, including people we support records.
- To communicate effectively with colleagues, family members and professionals, verbally and in writing.
- To raise any concerns about practice or the people we support in a timely manner.
- To ensure required financial checks are completed.
- To assist people towards volunteering and paid employment.
- To attend training, including induction training, team meetings and individual supervision meetings as required.
- To be responsible for protecting and maintaining confidentiality of information at all times in accordance with current GDPR guidelines and Coquet Trust policies.
- To undertake any other reasonable duties as requested.
- You will be expected to work alone and as part of a team.
- Actively take part in regular 1:1 supervision meetings and annual appraisals with your line manager.
- Ensure that all of Coquet Trust’s policies and procedures are followed, by working flexibly and adapting to and implementing changes within your role, as and when they are made.
- Coquet Trust adopts a flexible approach to working hours and working locations, including sleep-in duties, unsociable hours and weekend work to meet the operational needs of Coquet Trust to which you would be expected to adhere to.
Specific Responsibilities
- About this role:
- We are seeking dedicated and compassionate staff to provide personalised assistance to the person we support.
- She is a dynamic individual with unique needs, living in a bungalow and requiring 24/7 support, due to her health conditions (including epilepsy, schizophrenia, OCD and CPAP machine usage for sleep).
- This role will involve providing holistic support, ensuring the person we support's safety, well-being and independence in daily living activities.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with personal care tasks, including dressing, grooming and toileting, while promoting dignity and autonomy;
- Implementation of specialised care plans for managing health conditions, including epilepsy, schizophrenia, OCD and sleep apnoea;
- Administer medication according to prescribed regimens, monitor for side effects, and facilitate medication adherence;
- Provide support during seizures, psychiatric crises, and episodes of OCD, employing appropriate intervention techniques and first aid protocols;
- Foster a supportive and empowering environment for the person you support, promoting social inclusion, independence and quality of life. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and support teams to ensure comprehensive care coordination and holistic support.- Working pattern: no sleep shifts, just waking nights.Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
