**Our client is** a family-owned business, founded in 1940.

They are looking to recruit a new Fabric/Garment Buyer to join the Procurement Team.

The Buyer role is 37 hours per week, based at the Head Office location, situated on the outskirts of Wakefield.

The successful Buyer applicant will have experience in both fabric and garment sourcing and will be responsible for ensuring all costing requests, sampling and documentation is processed smoothly and efficiently through the department. In addition to thatyou will be responsible for managing and developing the Supplier Base, as well as providing cover for, and assistance to, the Group Sourcing and Development Manager.

**Main duties will include**:

- Setting up, measuring and maintaining fabric/garment submissions
- Maintenance and development of supplier base
- Product and Market development
- Establish suppliers and negotiate price and terms of trading for all new products within designated market sector
- Complete tenders within deadlines for all new corporate business within own market sector
- Completion of any special projects as required
- Close liaison with suppliers to ensure quality, pricing, service and delivery are constantly monitored/improved
- Organise samples and sealing garments in conjunction with Concept Design and Technical
- Produce costs sheets to enable Planning Department to buy at correct price, quality and service

**The Person**
- Good, all-round education
- Ability to think clearly, perform tasks efficiently and accurately, often to tight deadlines
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to deal with all levels of management both internally and externally
- Ability to cover multiple/varied tasks as required

**Knowledge/Experience**
- Knowledge of UK/Europe & Far Eastern market sourcing
- Experienced buyer with têxtile background, preferably fabric and garments
