**The IASS service for the IOW (SENDIASS) are looking to recruit a Special Educational Needs and Disability Information, Advice and Support Officer to join our small but extremely busy team, based in Newport.**

The Children and Families Act 2014 requires local authorities to provide children with information, advice and support relating to their SEN or disability. Information, Advice and Support Services should be trained to support, and work in partnership with parents.

You will work in partnership with children, young people, parents, local authorities, CCGs and other relevant partners, challenging practice where necessary.

Proficient in routine aspects of the role (e.g. attending meetings, reviewing documents with carers and parents, explaining legal processes and attending mediation meetings), the IASS Officer will also tackle more complex work including, but not limited to, attending judicial review, tribunals, and dealing with complaints to the Ombudsmen.

You would be offered and expected to complete legal training from IPSEA during the first year of your employment.

- The management reporting line for this role is ultimately through Hampshire County Council Children’s Services Director/Assistant Director and managers who take operational responsibility for children’s services._
