The Governing Body are looking to appoint a cleaner who will be join our premises team to ensure we provide a safe, hygienic and clean school building for our school community. Our valued team of cleaners work to a high standard and are responsible for cleaning all areas across the school. We are keen to enhance the skills of our staff and training will be available on the use of machinery and COSHH regulations.
- This is a practical ‘hands on’ role and we are looking for someone who will be highly committed to the school, taking pride in the appearance and cleanliness of the whole school site.

**Job Description: Domestic Staff Cleaner**

**PASS Level: 1**

**SCP: 2**

**Main purpose of the role**:
To ensure that the school building is cleaned to a high standard to provide a safe, clean and healthy environment for pupils, staff and visitors and other users of the site facilities.

**Responsibilities**:
Responsible to: Head Teacher, School Business Manager

To engage in a wide range of cleaning duties to ensure that a high standard of cleaning is maintained across the school

Contribute to a caring school community where respect and equal opportunities for all are promoted. High standards of personal integrity, commitment, discretion and professionalism are required at all times.

**Main Duties**

To ensure all surfaces, fittings and fixtures are thoroughly cleaned using correct methods and equipment.

To ensure all floors, walls, partitions and internal woodwork are clean.

To ensure the safe removal of litter and waste in an appropriate manner. To remove safely liquids, broken glass or other substances that may be unsafe to staff or pupils. The use of PPE is required.

To ensure toilet areas and medical room are thoroughly cleaned.

To work safely using the correct warning signs, protective clothing and equipment.

To ensure the toilet areas are stocked with soap, toilet rolls and paper towels.

To ensure the correct labelling of containers and chemicals before use and are used safely in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

To ensure all chemicals and equipment are safely stored when not in use.

To empty vacuum cleaners and buffer pads at the end of each session.

To clean and visually check all equipment after use, checking cables for wear and tear and storing away in a suitable safe area. Notifying the business manager of any faults.

To ensure mops, cloths etc., are washed and left to dry as appropriate at the end of each session.

To report immediately to the caretaker any defective electrical sockets, lighting, vandalism etc., in your cleaning area.

To ensure the office are aware of low stock levels of materials and equipment for which you are responsible.

To assist in keeping chemicals and cleaning materials and equipment storage areas in a clean and tidy condition.

To undertake special cleaning programmes during school closure, or other designated times.

To cover for absent colleagues when required, which may require flexibility in hours/times.

To adhere to all St Paul & St Timothy’s Catholic Infant School policies and procedures.

To ensure relevant statutory Health and Safety Regulations and risk assessments are observed at all times.

To ensure all tasks are carried out with due regard to Health and Safety.

To ensure the school’s equal opportunities policy is fully complied with.

To attend meetings as requested by the Senior Leadership Team.

To have a responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people he/she comes into contact with.

To adhere to the ethos of the school.

To act with personal integrity and professionalism.

To maintain confidentiality of information acquired in the course of undertaking duties.
