**About us**

The Vegan Picnic Basket is a bakery in Salford producing high quality and delicious plant-based versions of bakery favourites. This includes award winning porkless pies, sausage rolls, scotch eggs, quiche, bakewell tart, custard tarts and more.

We primarily produce food for weekend markets and catering events, no food is sold on site. The business is experiencing a period of growth which means we are looking for a skilled Baker to help meet the rising demand.

**About the Role**:
The successful candiate will have experience in a similar role within a bakery, or have been through cullinary school. Specific training will be given with regards to company recipies but you must already have an understanding of how to bake in a commercial setting.

Expected hours will start between 12-24 hours most weeks, with a view to increase in line with business growth. Shifts will be 6 to 8 hours, within core opening hours of 8am-4pm weekdays. There may be some requirements to work outside of these hours on occasion. We are a small team so you will assist in all aspects of bakery production and some heavy lifting will be required.

Start date is flexible - expected in the next 2-4 weeks

**Responsibilities**:

- Prepare, bake and finish a variety of savoury and sweet baked goods
- Follow recipes and adhere to food production schedules
- Ensure high standards of food safety and hygiene practices are maintained
- Operate kitchen equipment such as pie press, ovens, mixers, fryer, and dough sheeter
- Monitor baking process to ensure quality products are produced
- Assist with stock management and inventory control
- Pack prepared goods to send to markets

**Requirements**:

- Proven experience as a Baker or similar role in a restaurant or bakery setting
- Experience making dough and pastry, including puff pastry
- Be physically fit enough to operate the equipment, stand for long periods of time, and lift up to 25kgs
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and procedures
- Proficiency in food production techniques and methods
- Strong culinary skills with expertise in baking and food preparation
- Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and punctuality
- Experience with plant based/vegan baking desirable, a willingness to learn about this is essential

**Job Types**: Part-time, Freelance, Zero hours contract

Pay: From £12.00 per hour

Expected hours: 12 - 24 per week
