The Role
The purpose of this 0.2 PDRA role over 12 months is to conduct and coordinate research, qualitative data analysis, policy engagement and dissemination for a 12-month project funded by the Arts & Humanities Research Council (AHRC). The project is on, ‘Reducing Modern Slavery in the Health Sector's Supply Chains for Personal Protective Equipment’. The post-holder will support an interdisciplinary academic team and an ethical trade consultancy firm in this work.
Key Accountabilities
Organizing and participating in monthly project team meetings
Organizing and participating in online workshops with non-academic and academic organizations
Organizing and conducting online interviews with organizations in Personal Protective Equipment supply chains, with guidance and support from the PI and Co-Is
Collating and managing project data with guidance from the Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-Investigators
Organizing, note-taking for and reporting on policy engagement online workshops
Contributing to all outputs (an awareness raising video for procurement managers; project report, interim reports, policy briefs, academic papers), in collaboration with and with guidance from the PI and Co-Is
Archiving data, where consent is granted, with guidance from Hughes and the Co-Is from the project
Attending training on impact and engagement at Newcastle University
The Person (Essential)
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Experience of conducting in-depth interviews
Experience of carrying out independent research and engagement with non-academic organizations
Experience of writing up research and engagement activities for publication
Experience of conducting social science research in/on Global South settings
Proven ability to publish, either as a lone scholar or joint author in the field of economic geography
Experience of online communication and/or research and engagement methods
Ability to prepare research and engagement work for reports and publication
Ability to work as part of a team and to work independently using own initiative
Highly developed communication skills to engage effectively with wide and diverse audiences, both orally and in writing, using a range of media
Experience of, and ability in, conducting qualitative data analysis
Experience of working in groups
Knowledge of debates, literature and concepts in economic geography
Knowledge of debates, literature and concepts in labour studies
Attributes and Behaviour
Enthusiasm for research into, and engagement on, global labour rights and corporate responsibility
Collaborative ethos
Positive attitude to colleagues and research participants/partners
Ability and willingness to work outside conventional working hours if required by the opportunities presented by the project

**Qualifications**:
PhD in Economic Geography or related social science discipline
