Locum General Surgery

**Job Title: Locum Specialty Doctor (ST3 to ST8) - General Surgery**
**Position Overview**:
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Providing high-quality surgical care to patients across a wide range of general surgery cases, including elective and emergency procedures.
- Undertaking pre-operative assessments, surgical procedures, and post-operative care under the supervision of consultants.
- Participating in ward rounds, outpatient clinics, and multidisciplinary meetings to review patient progress and formulate treatment plans.
- Collaborating effectively with surgical colleagues, nursing staff, and allied healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and optimal outcomes.
- Demonstrating proficiency in surgical techniques, including laparoscopic and open procedures, while adhering to established clinical protocols and safety standards.
- Participating in teaching and training activities for junior doctors, medical students, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Contributing to clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and research projects to enhance the delivery of surgical services and patient outcomes.
**Qualifications and Requirements**:
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and a valid license to practice.
- Completion of Foundation Programme training and attainment of Core Surgical Training competencies (ST3 to ST8 level).
- Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons or equivalent professional body, demonstrating commitment to surgical excellence and continuous professional development.
- Proven experience in general surgery, including exposure to a wide range of surgical procedures and clinical scenarios.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Sound clinical judgment, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to patient-centered care.
- Flexibility to adapt to the demands of a busy surgical department and willingness to participate in on-call duties as required.
**Duration and Remuneration**:

Pay: £70.00-£80.00 per hour
Expected hours: 45 per week
