Are you a new graduate or band 5 Dietitian looking to make a difference to physical health in a mental health/ learning disability setting? Then this is the job for you.

We are excited to offer a full-time rotational band 5 dietetic post within Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT) to join our established learning disabilities and mental health band 5 rotation. You will develop your dietetic skills across the following specialist areas;
- Learning disabilities - West and South Leeds Community Learning Disabilities Team
- Older peoples services inpatient
- The Mount
- acute inpatient and dementia*
- Adult mental health
- The Becklin Centre-acute inpatient
- (*working with the Healthy Living Service

You will be joining an innovative and growing dietetic community of Dietitians, Dietetic Associate Practitioners and Dietetic Assistants, whereby dietetics is embedded within the MDT. You will gain a wealth of experience not just from your dietetic colleagues but the wider MDT and most importantly our service users presenting with needs such as disordered eating; enteral feeding; eating disorders; diabetes; weight management, malnutrition, and re-feeding syndrome.

The Trust has an established management and clinical support structure including 12 month preceptorship trust wide programme (for all new graduate nurses and AHPs), regular clinical and management supervision, monthly trust wide dietetic meeting and access to peer support and other development opportunities. We work closely with Leeds Beckett University and in partnership with Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust delivering student placements A, B and C. Including being part of an innovative student simulation program. As an organisation we are keen to support research and development activities.

The Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT) is the main provider of Mental Health and Learning Disability services in Leeds. We also provide specialist inpatient services in York and some highly specialised services across the country. As a teaching trust with strong links to local universities, we are a centre of excellence for teaching, research and development.

Under guidance of the Clinical Lead Dietitian, contribute to the work of the service in the following capacity:

- To assist in providing, maintaining and developing a clinical dietetic service.
- To plan, justify and be responsible for the delivery of specialised dietary advice to service users and their families/ carers.
- To plan, manage and prioritise own clinical workload and to ensure maximum efficiency in all areas.
- To plan, coordinate and deliver nutrition/ dietetic training for professional and support staff.
- To work in liaison with dietetic, medical, nursing, allied health professional, clerical and other relevant staff and care co-ordinate as needed.
- Participate in dietetic student training.
- To ensure safe practice at all times through the recognition and appreciation of clinical governance.
- To maintain accurate and appropriate clinical records and statistical information as required, in accordance with professional standards.
- To maintain clear links with your professions structures and your profession’s lead within the trust. Support the professions development and modernisation and the adherence to your profession’s standards and codes of practice.
- Willing to undertake training relevant to the post

Learning Disabilities

The Community Learning Disabilities Team (CLDT) is based in the West and South of Leeds. You will be fully supported by the Clinical Lead Dietitian, Specialist Learning Disability Dietitians and will work closely alongside our Dietetic Associate Practitioners. The Learning Disabilities Dietitians are embedded within the MDT and therefore work closely with the other professions including Speech & Language Therapists, Nurses, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Psychiatrists and Psychologists. There are a wide range of dietetic needs seen in this service user group including weight management, diabetes, nutrition support and restricted eating.
