Buyer (Ft)

Yumchop Foods is a growing manufacturing and retailing food business, that is committed to delivering high-quality products for our customers.

We are seeking expansion to our team to work within production by recruiting a Buyer - African Ingredients.

Working closely with our suppliers, you will be in tune with the market demands ensuring the right products are stocked at the right time and for the right price. The role is specific to a resource with an understanding of the local Nigerian buying and selling.

**To work as a Buyer - African Ingredients, the main activities include**:

- Attending trade fairs, shows and demonstrations to research new product lines and suppliers checking catalogues;
- Keep up with market trends and chooses products/services;
- Assesses budgetary limitations and customer requirements and decides on quantity, type, range and quality of goods or services to be brought;
- Assesses bids from suppliers find suppliers and negotiate prices;
- Helps negotiate contracts with suppliers and specifies details of goods or services required;
- Looks at ways to improve supply networks, presents new ideas to the senior management team;
- Ensures that delivered items comply with the order, monitors the quality of incoming goods and returns unsatisfactory faulty items, monitors performance and makes sure targets are met;
- Supervises clerical, administrative and warehouse distribution staff, deals with recruitment and training;
- Works closely with merchandisers who allocate stock and develop sales forecasts;
- Maintains records and prepares reports as necessary;
- Travel regularly to source ingredients from local farmers to support business expansion;
- Facilitate all logístical issues locally that will ensure an uninterrupted value chain;
- Lead all negotiation with local exporters, including the coordination of all product specification that is required by UK quality teams.

**What we’re looking for**:

- Experience in a similar role or accounting role;
- Be very organised and motivated.;
- Good with numbers;
- Has experience in external audits carried out by governing bodies and customers;
- Be able to communicate & follow up with other departments to feedback information and data;
- Have a good understanding of all processing tasks carried out.
