**Job Title: Kitchen Porter - Part Time**

**Location: Nightingale Hospital, 11-19 Lisson Grove, Marylebone, London NW1 6SH**

**Department: Catering**

**Salary**:Starting from £18,525, plus an additional London Allowance of £4,000 per annum added to all permanent posts (pro-rata for part-time roles)

**Working hours: 24 hours per week, Saturday/Sunday. **Shifts will vary depending on hospital needs

Conveniently located, we are a two-minute walk from Marylebone main line and Underground stations, and within a ten-minute walk of Baker Street and Edgware Road Underground stations.

**About the role: Kitchen Porter**

You will be primarily responsible for ensuring kitchen cleanliness, basic food preparation, and maintaining kitchen organisation within the Hospital.

**Duties and responsibilities**

**1.** **Main Duties**

1.1. Ensure basic cleaning jobs are carried out as quickly as possible

1.2. Collect and wash up pots and pans.

1.3. Clean food preparation areas and equipment, in addition to crockery and cutlery.

1.4. Unload food and equipment deliveries.

1.5. Keep work surfaces, walls and floors clean and sanitised.

1.6. Keep the storeroom organised.

1.7. Empty all trash bins and ensure that all waste is disposed of promptly.

1.8. Help with routine food prep tasks (such as peeling and chopping vegetables) when needed

1.9. Sweep and mop floors at the beginning and ending of shifts

**2. Training and Development**

2.1 Responsibility for ensuring completion of mandatory training, including e-learning and breakaway training offered by Nightingale Hospital.

2.2 Regular performance reviews and annual appraisal with the Head Chef.

2.3 Identification of any skill deficits which will require some training and support

Participate in receiving clinical supervision and individual supervision.

2.3 Commitment to personal and professional development.

**3. Health and Safety**

3.1 Report any health and safety issues to the Head Chef that impact on the immediate work environment or patient areas at Nightingale Hospital.

3.2 Be aware of any health and safety policies and procedures relating to the job and use of equipment.

3.3 Knowledge of risk assessment and risk management practice in relation to mental health.

3.4 Be aware of the fire procedure relating to the area and carry the fire alarm key

**4. Other**

4.1 To recognise the importance of customer care and present a positive, courteous and

helpful attitude when dealing with users of the Hospital’s services.

4.3 To present a professional and efficient image at all times.

4.4 To be responsible for reading, understanding and complying with all relevant policies

and procedures.

4.5 To undertake additional duties, as and when required, as directed by your line manager.

**Education/Qualifications**
- Basic level of Education
- GCSE Maths and English or Equivalent

**Work experience**
- 1 year experience in a similar role
- Previous experience working within a Hospital

**Skills, knowledge and aptitude**
- Positive attitude and willingness to work
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Ability to work as a team and take direction
- Understanding of Mental Illness
- Knowledge of COSHH and other relevant legislation

**Impact on others**
- Good communication skills both verbal and reading
- Ability to communicate with Colleagues, patients and visitors

- Able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the business.
