**MS320 - Childrens Residential Worker (Nights)**
**Location**: Kilburn, London
**Salary**: £26,908 per annum
**Overview**: First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Childrens Residential Worker on behalf of one of our clients. This role is working shifts which are from 22:00 - 8:45, working a 40-hour week, including weekends & bank holidays.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Providing direct support and care for young people aged 12 to 17 years suffering with complex emotional & mental health difficulties.
- Working within a therapeutic framework, developing a direct programme of work aimed at building life skills, developing a restorative learning approach to behaviour and managing their own safety within the community.
- Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the young people living in the home by adhering to and updating their risk assessment as well as taking practical steps to ensure their safety. This includes identifying, recording and reporting any risk of harmor child protection concerns in accordance with policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Ensuring each young person’s placement plan is followed and updated as appropriate to reflect their changing needs and being proactive in working to achieve the aims of the local authority care
- plan.
- Identifying with young people what they need to develop their physical, emotional, behavioural and social wellbeing and resilience.
- Being willing and capable to successfully complete training in permissible forms of physical intervention and restraint with young people and to use these techniques as a last resort where necessary in practice to ensure safety.
- Establish and sustain positive and professional working relationships with your colleagues whilst being committed to promoting a positive team culture.
- Empowering young people to express their views and participate in decisions that affect them, as appropriate to their age and ability, and to take their wishes and feelings into account.
- Working flexibly to meet the changing demands of the service by taking on any additional tasks and responsibilities to ensure the safe day to day running of the home.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- Desirable Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent (i.e., Level 3 Diploma Children and Young People Workforce with the children's social care pathway).
- Minimum of 1 years’ experience working and supporting Young People to achieve their full potential.
- Experience of achieving outcomes as part of working in a service and the records which evidence that.
- A working knowledge of key legislation regarding Safeguarding practices relating to children and young people.
- Understanding of the issues experienced by young people such as bullying, gangs, radicalisation, self-harm, sexual exploitation and how these impact on behaviour.
- Strong awareness and understanding of safeguarding Regulations and Procedures.
- Ability to build and promote trusted relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Hold a valid Enhanced DBS registered in the Update Service.
- Ability to commit to shift work which may include mornings, late evenings, lone working, Bank Holidays, weekends and occasionally sleeping-in.
