The Clinical Placements / Practice Education Lead role is designed to influence the quality of the clinical learning environment by providing support, educational input and development activities for Practice Supervisor/Practice Assessors, pre-registration students and existing staff alongside working with stakeholders to increase the capacity of the Trust to deliver quality practice learning experience and contribute to the future of the registered workforce.

As a registered adult/child nurse, the post holder will provide support, education and development for Practice Supervisor/Practice Assessors and students from pre and post registration education programmes in clinical practice areas.

This will entail the development and maintenance of a learning environment where both education and lifelong learning are seen as integral to clinical practice.

1. To ensure that there are sufficient Practice Assessors and Supervisors available within clinical placement areas.
2. Coordinate and evaluate placements in adult community, child and health visitor placements
3. Establish and maintain effective liaison with workforce and learning and development managers across all partner agencies and where required, other NHS Trusts and HEIs.
4. Maintain effective liaison with the Open University and act as placement support to all OU work-based student nurses.
5. Maintain collaborative relationships with partner universities, and community colleges,by establishing a working knowledge of pre and post-registration programmes offeredand communicating CPFT policies and procedures.
6. Consult with education partners regarding curriculum objectives and CPFT requirements.
7. Present at local conferences or meetings as required.
8. Lead on and support the of student forums throughout the Trust
9. Ensure that a robust governance framework is in place for all pre and post registration students within the Trust including development of learning agreements with partner Universities.
10. Lead on Student Inductions. Attend and participate in student events, presentations, and post-conferences as needed.
11. Ensure that practice assessors and supervisors are in place and their CPD is addressed and that mechanisms are in place to record where the practice assessors and supervisors are based to track short falls.
12. Evaluate pre-registration programmes for the quality of students being placed and the quality of the clinical experience provided.
13. Act as a Trust Representative at Education meetings including PEC, QLEG meetings.
14. To attend, liaise and support with regional working groups to develop partnership working and initiatives that support placement expansion and student recruitment.
15. To support HEIs in auditing learning environments across the Trust to ensure safe working environments.
16. To support placements with challenges, barriers, and cause for concerns in partnership with the HEI staff.
17. To actively promote recruitment of students at CPFT
18. To provide supervision and management to the Placements Coordinator.
