Microbiologist

The Liphook Equine Hospital is a world-renowned, fully equipped, state-of-the-art equine veterinary referral hospital providing 24 hour specialist clinical care to horses, ponies and donkeys referred from our own practice and from veterinary practices across the UK. Diagnostic samples are submitted to our laboratory on a daily basis from within the hospital and from veterinary practices across the UK.

We are seeking an additional microbiologist to join the current laboratory team. The role will include traditional microbiology methods (plate cultures, bacterial ID and AST) as well as qPCR and LAMP techniques. Prior experience and qualification in diagnostic microbiology or similar is required.

HOURS

This position is offered on a full time permanent contract (Monday-Friday) and includes working Saturdays on a rota basis (1 in 2) for which time off in lieu is provided.

LOCATION

You will be based in the laboratory at the Liphook Equine Hospital and due to the rural location own transport is essential.

The hospital requires that a very high standard of service is provided and previous experience in clinical laboratory diagnostics is ideal. Although team-work is an important facet of the role, there will also be a requirement to perform techniques competently without supervision.
