**Job Summary**

We are seeking an experienced stonemason to join our friendly team working on varied building and landscaping projects across Cumbria. You must be capable of producing a consistently high standard of work, with attention to detail and a right first-time approach. A cooperative attitude to teamwork is essential. This is an excellent opportunity to take-up an important role in a growing construction business. The right individual will have the opportunity to develop their skills and progress within the business.

**Duties**

Will encompass but are not limited to:

- Construction and repair of stone structures e.g. walls, floors, monuments.
- Setting out using measuring and marking tools.
- Dressing stones using hand tools and power tools.
- The mixing and use of appropriate mortars.
- Stone fixing.
- Repairing and replacing damaged stones in existing structures.
- Collaboration with architects, designers and other trades to plan and execute projects.
- Supervision and direction of more junior team members.

**Requirements and Skills**
- Punctuality, reliability and professionalism in your approach to work.
- Attention to detail and precision in workmanship.
- A recognised qualification in stonemasonry is preferred e.g. a successfully completed apprenticeship.
- A minimum of 3 years on the job experience as a stonemason.
- Proficiency in a broad range of masonry disciplines e.g. building and fixing, banker, setting out.
- Ability to read and follow drawings and plans. The ability to draft drawings is desirable.
- Knowledge of different types of stones and their properties.
- Skilled in using power tools such as saws, grinders, and drills.
- Basic carpentry skills are desirable. For producing templets, framing, and shoring up.
- Physical fitness to carry out manual work throughout the day.
- Comfortable working at height.
- Understanding of health and safety requirements on building sites and yards. CSCS card desirable.
- Knowledge of relevant building regulations.
- A full, clean driving licence is desirable.

Pay: £14.00-£24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 - 45 per week
