This includes energy efficiency and carbon management services, asset management and whole life costing, as well as broader sustainability strategy services such post-occupancy evaluation and rating tools.
Their UK Building Design practice has over 800 engineers and architects delivering projects across Cities & Development, Education, Residential, Aviation, Defence, Energy, Manufacturing, Highways, Water and Rail & Logistics buildings.
Our client is looking to recruit an experienced Embodied Carbon & Material Consultant to join the growing team of dedicated Building Design sustainability and carbon professionals and work with our clients at project level to drive carbon strategies and thetransition to Net Zero.
Our client is looking to recruit a knowledgeable and skilled carbon/ sustainable materials consultancy services for building design including: embodied carbon calculations for structural and architectural components, provision of technical advice and guidancein areas of circular economy and sustainable materials selection, including keeping informed of the latest developments in sustainable materials applicable to UK projects and providing advice to project design teams.
Your Key Responsibilities:

- Join a team of project delivery consultants to provide technical sustainability support to clients with regards to sustainable materials, circular economy and embodied carbon assessment.
- Liaise with project manager/ technical team/ research and innovation team for new build and retrofit projects central and local government and other project promoters.
- Work across multi-disciplinary teams including developing and providing technical advice and support.
- Awareness of UK Government policy and other industry initiatives that relate to sustainable developments.
- Generate good working relationships with internal teams.
- Support bid preparation.

**Requirements**:

- Working knowledge of carbon accounting tools/life cycle assessment software, such as OneClick LCA is preferred.
- Possess interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with a range of technical specialists at different levels.
- Be highly self-motivated, possessing strong enthusiasm and commitment to delivering sustainable outcomes.
- Be flexible, adaptable and prepared to take on new challenges and work from other offices or client office locations.
- Have strong report writing, communication and presentation skills.
- Have awareness of UK climate change, carbon and net zero regulations, guidance and standards.
- Awareness of standards and methods for assessing and reporting on carbon performance of building design projects.
- Good verbal communicator with the ability to present with confidence to a wide range of audiences and communicate technical concepts simply and clearly.
- Excellent writing skills - clarity in scientific writing is key. Able to adapt writing style to produce documents for different types of audience, including non-specialists.
