BASE Alfreton (on-site working)

Silver X Group are looking for the next addition to our amazing team

Due to Continued growth, The Silver X Group is now recruiting an experienced Transport Planner in our transport team to work with our busy transport department in Alfreton. You will be responsible for delivering goods from our main depot to customers locally and nationwide.

Who are we looking for?

We want you to own it so a natural leadership approach is a must, as you will be involved in everything from sales, operations, legal compliance, administration, and finance for your particular depot. You will be supported by our board and head office functions, reporting directly to the depot transport manager.

What does a typical day include?

You will manage a portion of our fleet and be responsible for liaising with customers, pricing and planning jobs as well as developing relationships with subcontractors, building a network and winning new business. We are committed to providing exceptional customer service, and always delivering on our promises - we aim to build longstanding partnerships and we're looking for people with similar characteristics. A portion of your time will be spent creating opportunities, so if you're comfortable selling and handling the commercials in a transport environment then this could be the opportunity for you.

As a Transpoirt Planner you'll be targeted based on turnover and operating profit, so your planning skills and ability to generate new business will help you take advantage of the generous performance bonus available and achieve the role's earning potential.

We have a modern fleet of vehicles and an IT system that supports efficient information and data transfer both internally and externally - we use Stream as our TMS and Webfleet as our tracking and telematics tool, experience with either is beneficial.

We have a dedicated Customer Service team who will support you in the role and ensure customers are kept up to date on the day of delivery/ collection as well as manage the POD & tracking processes.

Our customers are anywhere from large FTSE 100 enterprises, to local manufacturers that we have supported for many years.

No two days are the same and we're looking for someone who can bring positivity and problem solving skills to the fast paced environment we've built here at The Silver X Group.

What do you need?
- Strong Sales, Negotiation and Planning Skills.
- IT Literate.
- Previous Transport / Transport planning experience with Knowledge of Drivers Hours, tachograph and WTD legislation.
- Possess excellent commercial skills and a teamworking traits.
- Be able to demonstrate sophisticated communication and negotiation skills.
- 2 years of transport planning experience with a fleet of over 10 vehicles preferred.
