This is temporary position to cover maternity leave which may become permanent.
To cover maternity leave until the 1 March 2025. (potentially longer)
5 days a week
Variable hours
Minimum of 20 per week to usual hours of 32.5 hours
Starting at
7.30am finishing when work complete
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday
1 additional shifts a week available if required.
This role reports to Manager and assistant manager and works alongside other housekeepers.
The role is a mixture as, some days, you will be doing housekeeping and serving breakfast and other days cooking and housekeeping. Experience preferred but not necessary.
**Housekeeper**
To ensure that the highest standards of cleanliness are sustained throughout the hotel and organise special cleaning duties to be carried out.
Maintain the health and safety of staff, guests and contractors. This is achieved by ensuring by guest and staff equipment used to safe and function correctly. Mainlining a safe and hygienic working environment through cleaning by yourself
The housekeeping team are an integral part of the Edgar Townhouse team and play an important role in ensuring that standards are achieved and maintained across the property.

Key duties will include but are not limited to:
Ensure all areas are cleaned, maintained and presented to a high standard at all times.
Putting away laundry 2 days a week
Stocktaking and ordering linen as required. To control and ensure the correct levels of cleaning material and products. To control and ensure the correct levels of tea coffee and other tea tray supplies In bedrooms. To control and ensure the correct levels guest bathroom products: soap, shampoo, body wash etc
Implementing and maintaining internal policies and procedures to ensure the safety of clients and employees.
Ensure that Health & Safety and hygiene are continually maintained to a high standard.
Preparing orders for all cleaning materials with approved suppliers complying with procedures to maintain appropriate stock levels and control, ensuring good quality products are purchased within agreed budget limits, obtaining Manager approval.
Working with other domestic staff, providing instruction and demonstration to new staff on cleaning tasks and materials, ensuring that all cleaning duties undertaken by you or assigned domestic staff are carried out in accordance with worksheet instructions including:
vacuuming, carpet shampooing and washing floor areas stairs and lifts.
cleaning toilets, baths and washbasins, providing adequate supplies of toilet rolls, soap and hand towels.
cleaning windows, paintwork and walls.
thoroughly cleaning of vacated rooms ready for re-occupation.
removal of rubbish and clinical waste to storage area ready for collection by the appropriate agencies.
counting dirty linen and stock control in the housekeeping department using internal processes.
Audit and inspect housekeeping work assignments.
To work autonomously and make decisions independently to manage the housekeeping function.
Train and develop housekeepers and linen porters and deputise when necessary.
Monitor and action guest feedback as necessary keeping management informed.
You’ll be working alongside your team, helping to make beds and clean bathrooms where necessary, reporting any damage whilst keeping yourself, the team, and our customers safe.
Catering
Work alongside the other cooks and servers to provide good customers service and food hygiene.
Help with the kitchen ordering, sourcing, and work with manager to order foods as required.
Ensure a tidy, hygienic, and safe working environment is always maintained, and is fully compliant with relevant Health and Safety and Food Safety Regulation.
Ensure that day-to-day tasks and routines are carried out to contribute to the smooth running of the service.
Actively promote the service using clear, respectful, and helpful communication with all potential internal and external stakeholders including individuals who use services, relatives, health and social care professionals, other officials and contractors, visitors as well as colleagues.
Maintain a safe working kitchen environment. Preventing slip and trips and burn injuries.
Ensuring catering equipment is cleaned and maintained correctly.
Ensuring equipment is used safely used. Report any faulty equipment to management.
Report to manager and assistant manager.
Ability to maintain a team environment that promotes good employee morale and ensures a high level of commitment and pride in the business.
Experience in training, managing and monitoring team performance.
