**What’s the role all about?**

As a **Fire Watcher** you will monitor construction sites to ensure that there are no fire hazards present before work can begin. This person is responsible for sounding the alarm if a fire is spotted and for keeping an eye on the fire until it is extinguished.

As our **Fire Watcher **you will be:

- Observe and react accordingly in an emergency situation by raising alarms and following procedures stated in the site-specific hot works permits.
- Have readily available and well-trained fire-extinguishing equipment and have the ability to identify potential hazards as well as the correct emergency procedures.
- Demonstrate the practical use of fire extinguishers.
- Proactive attitude, and if required warn others when approaching segregated areas of the construction site where hot work activities are taking place.
- Assess work fronts and remove all combustible materials prior to hot work activities (Welding, Burning and grinding)
- Raise alarms and contact emergency services in a calm and safe manner following all site procedures and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulations
- Coordinate with emergency services personnel during a fire or hazardous situation and provide information on the location of emergency exits and evacuation routes

**What are we looking for?**
- Previous construction work experience
- Competent and trained Fire Watcher/Labourer not essential but would be advantage
- Able to safely use different types of fire extinguishers and know which ones to you for the type of fire identified
- Excellent communication skills and a good understanding of spoken and written English so that they can communicate effectively with fellow employees and other site personnel to make sure that they follow safety procedures
- Knows how to read drawings and site blueprints to aid the emergency services to locations across site
- Demonstrate ability of understanding the risks involved with working near burning materials.
- Be able to recognize when there is an emergency situation on site, such as if something catches on fire or if there is smoke coming from the building
- Coordinate with other contractors on a large-scale site to minimise risks to all
- Enthusiastic Team member who will positively contribute to the continued development of the wider business.
