Protocol Education are working in partnership with a Secondary School based Enfield who are seeking a School Based Youth Worker to work with students who display challenging behaviours in the school in an educational setting. This is a role that involves working with pupils with challenging behaviour so previous work as a Youth Mentor/Worker is advantageous. Graduates with relevant degrees with placement experience are also preferred.

This is a Mainstream Secondary School however, have a high percentage of students who have various Social & Emotional Mental Health needs (SEMH) Some students will have complex learning disabilities or have been identified as having a statement of an Educational need or an Educational health and care plan (EHCP).

**The Role of a School Based youth Worker**:

- Working with students who display challanging behaviours using descallation techniques to assist to support their time in education.
- Have the ability to adapt to the needs of each individual child in the classroom and assist them in their school day.
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage the students to focus and stay on task.

**Requirements**:

- Experience working with children or adults with learning difficulties and or challanging behaviours
- Exprience of working within a pupil referral unit is ideal
- Team Teach training is desirable but is not essential

**Key skills and experience required**:

- An understanding of mental health
- Strong Behaviour management techniques.
- Previous support work within a school or other child related experience.
- Professional manor.
- Enthusiasm and friendly approach.
- Experience or knowledge within special educational need
- University degree or relavent qualifications preferred but not essential
- Secondary experience preferred but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
