We’re looking for a new Head of Policy to lead the development of evidence-based policy and thought leadership outputs that will influence the government, research sector and the NHS.

**About the role**

As our Head of Policy, you’ll work across four policy areas: prevention and population health, health and care systems, medical research environment, charities environment policy, and will collaborate with our public affairs colleagues, to develop pragmatic, evidenced-based strategies for changing public policy in support of our goal to reduce the burden of health and circulatory disease.

A key member of senior management you’ll support BHF’s ambition to deliver more effective influencing of:

- Government, Civil Service and Parliament
- Regulators
- Research sector
- NHS
- Other charities

You’ll lead the development of evidence-based policy and thought leadership outputs that influence the government, research sector and NHS, and will collaborate with senior colleagues to define and deliver BHF’s influencing priorities.

You’ll manage and grow BHF’s policy partnerships and external relationships and will lead a highly capable policy team that is expert, proactive and collaborative.

This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our London office.

At BHF we believe in the power of being together, so our colleagues on blended contracts can expect to spend some time in their office, at least one day each week, on average. The use of our office spaces is driven in part by your role and the activities you need to do. This may vary from time to time, so you will need to work in a flexible way to unlock your best work for our cause.

**About you**

With a background in policy development, and excellent analytical and communication skills, you’ll have a history of successful collaboration with internal and external partners to maximise impact.

You’ll understand the main frameworks of public policy analysis and evaluation, and will be committed to reducing inequalities in healthcare, working productively with a broad range of other disciplines, including data analysis, marketing and communications.

You’ll be able to cut through complexity to develop and communicate clear, realistic and actionable policy proposals.

Leading four Policy managers in a combined Policy and Public Affairs team, you’ll be a supportive manager committed to growing other people's skills and careers and knowing when to trust them to lead key projects and programmes.
