**Overview**:
First Military recruitment is working in partnership with our client to recruit a Service Engineer to join their team in Boston, Lincolnshire.
The Engineer will be responsible for repairs, maintenance, and servicing on the Company site and subsidiary buildings within the area of trade competence. You will work on a wide range of mechanical and electrical systems undertaking installation, routine,preventative, and reactive maintenance, in addition to any other duties as instructed by senior management.
This is a full-time, permanent position working on the ‘backshift’ (Sunday to Thursday, 6pm to 2.30am).
**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Part of a technical team engaged in maintaining and repairing physical structures and the utility systems of buildings and grounds, along with utilising the company preventative maintenance software systems (PEMAC).
- To carry out repairs and maintenance work and routine testing in all Company buildings, including subsidiary buildings and Company equipment and plant.
- To repair/maintain the light machinery used within the Company including chill systems, washers, hoppers and packaging equipment and ancillary material handling equipment such as auto-loaders, conveyors and elevators.
- To carry out regular safety and conditioning checks leading to repair or replacement of components in each category, such as bearings, timing belts, drive belts, motor and gearbox units, various belting, drive and idle shafts, guide wheel, sealing jaws,pins, drive gears and chains.
- To operate the computerised process control systems, and PCs used in the manufacturing process.
- To be able to read relevant engineering drawings and specifications and to utilise these in fault diagnosis leading to repair PLCs, drives and associated control circuits, pneumatics and hydraulics.
- Ensures that all work undertaken is carried out to the standard required by the Engineering Manager, that all appropriate safety legislation is observed and report any potentially unsafe working methods, installations or equipment.
- Install plant and equipment, working when necessary with outside building contractors and other specialist contractors.
- Report to the Engineering Manager any situation observed during the performance of work, which may cause concern.
- Ensure correct handling/storage of hazardous materials within your area(s) of responsibility.
- To attend any relevant meetings or training courses provided or made available by the company.
- To assist with training and mentoring of new/existing staff.
- Liaise with all in-house departments and Suppliers.
- Dependant upon workload requirements, as an Engineer you may be required to form part of a call out team providing 365 day/24 hour cover to the Company.

**Skills and Experience**:

- Time served engineer [essential].
- Min 3 years' experience in a previous or similar role [essential].
- Knowledge of plant and facilities maintenance.
- Technical skills evidenced by experience/training.
- Ability to establish priorities, work independently and proceed with tasks without supervision.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Ability to use computer systems to assist with job.
- Skills in handling and solving problems.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff.
- Good team worker.
- Works to a high degree of accuracy.
- Can work on own initiative or as part of a team, practical and pragmatic.
- Smart appearance; pleasant manner; easy to work with.
- High standard of confidentiality.
- Approachable.
