**Job summary**:
Are you interested in a role based in the UK’s busiest Air and Sea ports? Are you friendly, outgoing and do you enjoy meeting and talking to people from all over the world? If the answer is yes, come and join our team.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) is the UK’s largest producer of official statistics, covering a range of key economic, social and demographic topics. These include measuring changes in the value of the UK economy, estimating the size, geographic distribution, and characteristics of the population, and providing indicators of price inflation, employment, earnings, crime, and migration.

The data you will collect impacts government policy. The International Passenger Survey is the largest, most authoritative survey of its kind in the UK. It has been providing data to a variety of organisations and government departments for over 60 years. Our clients include; Visit Britain, Balance of Payments, HM Revenue and Customs, Health Analysis and Pandemic Insights.

Visit Britain use our data to identify and monitor UK inbound tourism to help build a detailed understanding of global target markets and broader travel trends. No personal data is collected or stored. Our data enables Visit Britain to provide information & advice to Government and the tourism industry and monitor perceptions of Britain amongst visitors and potential visitors. Balance of Payments use the IPS data to record foreign resident spend in the UK and compare with UK resident spend abroad.

**Job description**:

As an IPS Interviewer, you will work as part of a small team honing your interpersonal skills to persuade international arriving and departing passengers to participate in the survey. Some people take more persuading than others to take part, therefore you will need an adaptable interviewing style. The information you gather is entered into a tablet during the interview.

Flexibility in when you can work is a requirement of our business. Therefore, if you have any regular set commitments on any day of the week, this will preclude you from applying.
