**This is a Dawn role so 6.30am-10.30 am for 4 days a week**

**Set Rota pattern**

**Week 1 Monday Friday Saturday and Sunday**

**Week 2 Monday Wednesday Thursday and Friday**

**Support Worker/Care Assistant**

**Responsible to**: Senior care officers, Deputy Manager and Manager

**Job Summary**: Assist and enable in the motivation an care of the service users encouraging them to lad as independent life as possible according to their care plans

**Condition**: Working on a rota basis incorporating a mixture of shift patterns as the service requires and where necessary night duties.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Assist and enable the service users with all aspects of their personal care as set out in their care plan. This may include washing, dressing continence care and toileting.
- Enable the service users with their mobility following correct manual handling guidance and again as set out in their care plan.
- Too assist in the care of a resident whom may be at the end stages of their life.
- Promote a person centred approach and always consider the service user first in every thing that is done.
- To promote choice and involvement in every aspect of daily living where possible.
- To follow the person centred plans and be involved in recording information as directed by the senior care officers.
- Assist residents preparing, serving and at times eating meals.
- Cooking meals as required by the service
- Be familiar with policies and procedures.
- Attend staff meetings and training courses as advised by the management team.
- Ensure efficient response to the nurse call.
- Ensure that service users belongings are cared for and respected this includes clothing.
- To assist with the laundering of service users clothing.
- Present a professional image when answering the door or telephone.
- Ensure that confidentiality is maintained and the policy adhered to.
- Participate in housekeeping across the home as is required and directed by senior staff and the management team.
- Have due regards to the health & Safety policy and dress code.
- Give first aid when required.
- To observe all fire regulations
- To adhere to the equal opportunities policy of the home.

**Infection Prevention**

Maintain a current knowledge of infection prevention and control practices and policies through annual mandatory updates and role specific training.

Demonstrate a current knowledge of infection prevention and control practices through the delivery of clinical care and maintenance of a safe environment in accordance with infection prevention and control practices and policies. Take part in infection prevention initiatives in the local area. Challenge infection prevention practices, reporting breaches using relevant Home policies as appropriate (e.g. incident reporting policy).
