An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Technical Team as a Genetic Technologist in our busy Genomics Laboratory.

The Cambridge Genomic Laboratory (East GLH Hub) is looking to recruit several Band 5 Genetic Technologists, who will be known as Trainee until registration with AHCS or HCPC is completed, to perform specialist genomic processes in the laboratory.

Laboratory technical experience and training others is an essential requirement.

Experience in a laboratory performing diagnostic tests is highly desirable.

The Laboratory is part of the East NHS Genomic Laboratory Hub. This is one of seven Genomic Hubs recently established to provide the new National Genomic Medicine Service for NHS England, led by Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and working with Nottingham University Hospital and University Hospital Leicester.

Hours are currently within our current opening hours of 8am to 6pm, however the laboratory may soon be open 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and at weekends, so flexibility is desirable.
1. Perform a broad spectrum of diagnostic tests.
2. Supervision and training of other technologists and unqualified staff.
3. Work towards or maintain registration with the AHCS or HCPC.
4. Computer manipulation and analysis of data for diagnostic tests.
