**Weekend and School Holiday Therapy Assistant (PT)**

OM, who has cerebral palsy, is a lovely 16yo teenage lad who is keen to develop his independence and live life to the fullest potential, that’s where you come in Are you a graduate or student in Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy or SEN teaching? Perhaps you are looking to gain some experience working alongside a supportive Therapy team and being a key part of a close-knit support team. **The Role**:
OM has Cerebral Palsy, Global Developmental Delay and encephalitis. He is wheelchair dependent and partly verbal and uses Makaton to help him communicate. He lives in his adopted home with his supportive family and attends a special needs 6th form college during term time Monday to Friday.

OM enjoys interacting with his team, singing along to music videos, playing computer games and trips out and is motivated to develop his independence and engage in his therapy routines. He excels in the company of friendly, positive and energetic people and the main part of your role will be to drive forward the implementation of therapeutic activities and provide personal care to enhance our client’s overall independence and well-being.

Full training in all aspects of our client’s therapy and support needs will be given as will support from his friendly Case Manager and therapy team.

**About You**:

- You will work closely with our client’s team of therapists to understand and implement therapeutic strategies between formal therapy sessions.
- You will support our client by following his support plan as a team player who is willing to train and learn about our client’s particular needs.
- You will help him to achieve his rehabilitation goals, working with members of the team to help our client develop skills of independence, building confidence and supporting the development of physical abilities.
- You will be respectful of working in a family home and working alongside our client’s father who is highly involved in his care.
- You will be a cheerful person who is energetic, flexible, reliable, resourceful, and courteous and has a positive and empathetic attitude to working with a person with additional needs, with a passion for providing excellent support and therapies.
- Experience working with a child or young person with physical or learning disabilities is preferred as well as experience and/or a strong interest in working closely with a team of therapists and incorporating therapeutic strategies into day-to-day support.
- Having a valid UK driving license is desirable as you may drive our client’s adapted vehicle.

**Pay**:

- £18 per hour on weekdays.
- £20 per hour weekends.
- £27 per hour bank holidays.

**Hours/Shifts**:

- An average of 19.5 hours per week.
- ** Throughout the year**:

- Saturdays - 9am to 6pm (9 hours).
- Sunday - 12 - 6pm (6 hours).
- ** School holidays**:

- Tuesdays - 11am - 8pm (9 hours).
- Wednesdays - 9am to 6pm (9 hours).

Optional additional hours are occasionally available during term time on weekdays and always available during school holidays. There will also be occasional overnight, sleep-in support and support for the client on holidays, including both domestic and international travel, with reasonable notice.
