**Main purpose of job**

To ensure that the schools Internal Suspension Provision is delivered effectively and acts as both a deterrent and an opportunity for pupils to be rehabilitated back into the school community.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Deliver Internal Suspension Provision, which is the school’s highest sanction before external suspension
- Promote positive and respectful relationships within Internal Suspension, and a safe and orderly environment
- Insist on the highest standards of behaviour and attitudes to learning within Internal Suspension
- Hold pupils to account for their behaviour, attitude and learning within Internal Suspension
- Responsible for the physical appearance and use of the Internal Suspension area so that it is neat, tidy, purposeful and supportive of whole school systems and approaches
- Ensure that, as far as possible, pupils in Internal Suspension continue to complete work that aligns with the mainstream curriculum offer so that pupils are not disadvantaged by being removed from normal lessons
- Develop and maintain systems for monitoring and tracking pupils’ attitudes, behaviour and learning whilst in Internal Suspension
- Communicate effectively with the parents and carers of all pupils placed in Internal Suspension, so they are aware of their child’s behaviour, attitude and learning whilst in Internal Suspension and what the next steps are
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of systems for monitoring and tracking patterns in the use of Internal Suspension as a sanction
- Manage the effective and appropriate use of ICT to support pupils’ learning
- Work with members of the Inclusion Faculty and the Internal Alternative Provision team to ensure that reasonable adjustments are made, where appropriate, to meet pupils’ individual needs whilst in Internal Suspension
- Implement, facilitate and deliver a range of restorative and reflective practices to support pupils’ reintegration following a period in Internal Suspension
- Communicate any key information that might support different pupil’s needs being met to the following teams: Inclusion, Welfare, Academic, Pastoral
- To complete any further tasks that are typically undertaken by Pupil Support Assistants at the request of the Lead Pupil Support Manager.

- Provide appropriate guidance and supervision and assist in the training and development of staff as appropriate
- To promote the area of responsibility within the school/academy and beyond
- To represent the school/academy at events as appropriate
- To support and promote the school/academy ethos
- To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as required that are covered by the general scope of the post
