An exciting opportunity in Secure Services for a highly motivated, and dynamic person to take up the post of Security & Reception Officer - Band 3 to join our team at Brockfield House. We are looking for a committed individual who is flexible and enthusiastic.

1. Operation of the main gate for visitors entering the grounds of the facility

2. Greeting, identification and registration/processing of visitors

3. Appropriate liaison with wards, departments and the back of house security

4. Gate keeping of the patient and visitor airlock

5. Gate keeping of the entrances/exits to the rear reception lobby

6. Key checks

7. Monitoring of the main fire control panel

8. Distribution of inward post to wards and departments

9. Sorting of post, incoming and outgoing

10. Monitoring and recording of CCTV output

11. General administrative duties related to security

12. Routine security checks throughout the building both internal and external

13. Forming part of the designated search team which includes the personal search of patients.

What is Staff Bank?

Our EPUT NHS staff bank is an entity managed by the trust that hires clinical and non-clinical healthcare professionals to take on shifts at our trust hospitals and community settings. Here at EPUT we maintain our own bank of specialist staff to ensure that we are able offer safe and effective care at all times.

All our permanent staff are automatically enrolled onto the staff bank however this does not mean you have to work any additional shifts, but the option is there for you if you wish.

If you are joining our Trust in a fixed term role, please indicate on your New Starter Paperwork that you wish to join our staff bank.
1. Provide a customer-focused point of entry to Brockfield House

1. Contribute to maintaining the security of the buildings and grounds and the safety of the patients, visitors and staff.

1. Operate the vehicle and personnel entry gates

1. Check ID, take photographic information of visitors and upload in centralise folder.

1. Operate the electronically controlled airlock door system. Monitor the movement of persons entering or leaving the building

1. Audit and maintenance of personal Infrared Transmitters (PITs) for the staff attack alarm system and return faulty equipment

1. Receive, sort and issue both internal and external mail, delivering to administration and wards.

1. Coordinate the response to fire alarms, liaise with the fire brigade and ensure correct procedures are carried.

1. Maintain the fire wallets.

1. Issue and receive keys, PIT transmitters, access control fobs.

1. Responsible for the booking for the unit vehicle(s) and taxi’s in exceptional circumstances

1. Responsible for ensuring the correct procedure is used in the collection of bodily fluid samples, (i.e. blood) from the Hospital

1. Contacting on call personnel as required when out of hours

1. Check legal documentation for accuracy regarding exiting the building (leave), record on the system and log all patient movements into and out of the facility

1. Be responsible for the contents of reception key cabinets and daily checks.

1. Contribute to ensuring the reception control room is a clean and tidy environment at all times

1. Collating information with regards to patient leave for Directorate and inputting onto database. To collect other data as requested

1. Be familiar with and carry out all emergency procedures as laid down in the Directorate’s Quality Manuals for escapes/failures to return, hostage taking, fire, emergency etc. and deal with emergency service as appropriate.

1. Ensure confidentiality of patients is maintained at all times, and that of all staff and other matters related to hospital practice.

1. Assist and help escort visitors in Brockfield House

1. Assist and liaise with facilities staff in the delivery of goods.

1. In conjunction with other reception and security staff, provide relief for sickness holiday or other absence cover.

1. Drive Trust vehicles for transport of patients and items.

1. Ensure the security of the building and safety of patients, reporting any breaches in security to the Joint Heads of Security or the Unit Co-ordinator as appropriate.

1. Maintaining an awareness of and work within the requirements of Health and Safety Regulations, including attending mandatory training sessions, including Personal Safety Level 1 training and Directorate Security Training.
