**Principal Roles and Responsibilities**
- to deliver high quality physical activity sessions for children aged 5 -14 in the culturally diverse neighbourhoods of Toller Ward.
- to work during, after and beyond the school day to engage children and young people to embed physical activity and encourage the personal growth and development of children (5- 14 years) through the delivery of activities and projects in a range of settings across the Toller Ward, including schools, community settings, local parks and green spaces.
- to engage in effective outreach work to increase the number of children participating in physical activities and to encourage social cohesion.
- to encourage behaviour change in children and families to be active. Empower children and families to be active themselves wherever possible (rather than just leading activity sessions), establishing sustainable activity wherever possible and supporting communities to do things for themselves, building the skills and confidence of families to be active together and independently. Developing volunteering skills in the communities is key to sustainability.
- Family engagement in local greenspace, e.g. fun days, led walks, treasure trails. Build community engagement and leadership by parents / families (informal and informal volunteers). Support child-led activities / activism and young champions.
- to facilitate the involvement of children and parents / carers in the design and delivery of services in the area to enable children's voices to be heard.
- to work in partnership, liaise and network, building strong relationships and connections between the local schools, relevant agencies and voluntary groups in the Toller Ward area, particularly the JU:MP Leadership programme, managed by the Bradford West Area Co-ordinators Office. Work with and support schools to open facilities for the benefit of the community beyond the school day.
- use the resources of the wider Girlington Centre team to respond effectively to the needs of parents and children, and provide healthy lifestyle advice to groups and their families to support them to make healthy lifestyle choices.
- to provide sign posting and information for children and parents / carers including other healthy lifestyle provision.
- to provide support and training for volunteers to develop skills and knowledge and build capacity, linking in with the JU:MP Leads Initiative, with a view to them increasingly taking on the delivery of activities.
- to maintain a good standard of professional practice, with an ethos that is fun, energising and inclusive at all times.
- to implement safeguarding and child protection procedures and policies.
- to be responsible for the opening up and closing of community buildings in line with the respective procedures.
- to work with the Girlington Centre Manager / team to test and learn ways to develop sustainable activity, e.g. taking a social enterprise approach.
- to attend and contribute to the 6 weekly JU:MP Neighbourhood Action Planning meetings, plus the JU:MP social marketing campaign. Support the delivery of the JU:MP neighbourhood plan and initiate or deliver a range of activities to embed physical activity in the local community by taking an Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) approach to increasing children’s physical activity.
- to maintain accurate database records and carry out the monitoring and evaluation as required by the JU:MP research team and provide reports as required.

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 20 per week

**Salary**: £23,080.00-£23,541.00 per year
