Housekeeper

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and organised individual to join our Maternity Team as a Housekeeper to support the Delivery Suite.

This is a fast paced unit with a high patient turnover which includes all aspects of maternity care, mostly care in labour.

The post holder will also support the maternity ward and the Antenatal Clinic areas as needed and to work alongside the Maternity Ward Housekeeper. The post holder will have excellent communication skills and have an ability to organise and prioritise tasks, whilst recognising the remit of their role. They will need to have good IT skills to allow them to access various IT systems.

Stock ordering, monitoring and ensuring the Delivery Suite has all essential equipment will be a key element of the role, as well as support with ward cleanliness, tidiness, ward audits, supporting the nutrition and hydration of our patients, and supporting our clinical staff effectively organise the ward. Supporting the maintenance of Infection Prevention and Control standards will be a priority.
- To work as part of a team to promote high standards of care to patients and their families.
- Maintain stock levels of disposable and non-disposable items.
- Order stock items via oracle/telephone/hospital supply systems
- Provide support and information on the safe use of equipment and products as appropriate.
- Ensure the m8intenance and cleanliness of hospital equipment in line with COSHH regulations.
- Support ward staff with serving food and drinks as required.
- Maintain supplies and specialist equipment; reporting any broken or faulty equipment to EBME or the Works Department as appropriate and inform the manager.
- Perform clerical tasks, including answering the telephone and those involving information technology.
- Maintain confidentiality of patients and their families.

If successful in this role, there is a requirement for you to have a standard/enhanced DBS. This will be paid for by the Trust and then deducted from your salary over a period of 3 month.

As this vacancy is within the division of Women’s and Children’s, there is a mandatory requirement for successful applicants to join the DBS update service. The cost of joining the update service is £13 per year, and applicants are liable to cover this cost with no reimbursement from the Trust.
