An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Technologist in NNL Measurement and Analysis (NNL M&A). This technical role will be responsible for technical delivery of laboratory and deployment work as well as to lead research and customer project work for the Instrumentation and In-situ Analysis (IIA) team. Training will include development to technical lead and task supervisor within the NNL facilities, as well as opportunities to attend plant for maintenance, commissioning, and deployment activities.

The location for this role is flexible and can be based at Sellafield or Workington.

Main Responsibilities
Main Responsibilities for Instrumentation Research Technologist:

- The employee will be accountable for:

- Preparation of proposals for research, development, and innovation for M&A-IIA projects.
- Development of experimental work programmes.
- Experimental write-up and data reporting.
- Interfacing with academia, customers and attending technical workshops.
- Work alongside project/programme managers and customers to ensure that work is delivered to time, cost, quality, and safety requirements.
- Provide support to develop the skills and abilities of others for the benefit of the company.
- Ensures all relevant safety rules and procedures are applied.

Essential Criteria for Instrumentation Research Technologist:

- Ideally suited for applicants with experience in the focused area of instrumentation and analysis.
- Post Doctorate or Honors degree in relevant field of instrumentation.
- Provide evidence of self-motivation with demonstrable levels of drive, energy, and resilience.
- Must have the ability to communicate with all levels of personnel.
- A track record of producing bid proposals to high quality technical reports.
- Ability to obtain SC level security clearance (this includes but is not limited to identity, employment, financial and criminal record checks plus 5 years’ worth of UK residency).

Desirable Criteria for Instrumentation Research Technologist:

- Membership of a Professional Institute.
- Experience in the management of research programmes.
- Will be familiar with the Nuclear Industry.
