Student Services supports students at each stage of their journey from pre-entry to post exit. The Service has a student orientated culture and puts students’ needs at the heart of everything it does.

Within this role, you will deputise for the Head of Student Support Services and provide campus support at either our Merton or Carshalton campus. You will provide support, information, advice and guidance to learners to improve their likelihood of successful completion of their programme and progression into further education, training and/or employment. In addition, you will provide and support the provision of a range of activities to engage learners within the wider community of college life and the preparation for life in society.

We’re looking for someone who has experience of providing successful strategies, formal or informal, to learners who are disengaged or disaffected or who exhibit behavioural issues, in order to re-engage them with education or training. You will have experience of dealing with high risk safeguarding and child protection concerns, providing advice and support to staff, and have knowledge of local and national support services for sign posting learners including counselling, welfare and other services specific to young people.

We’d like you to have knowledge of progression opportunities available to learners within employment and further/higher education and have experience of providing engaging and inspiring enrichment activities to learners. You’ll also be an experienced leader and be comfortable conducting 1-2-1 interviews and reviews, completing documentation accurately.

This role is primarily based at Merton College however depending on the needs of the service, there may be a requirement to work across both Merton College and Carshalton College.
