**Ophthalmic Assistant**

We have an exciting opportunity that has arisen in our Lincolnshire team, for a Ophthalmic Assistant to join the team and help us deliver outstanding clinical care for our patients.

We are looking for someone who will thrive on working as part of a multidisciplinary team that includes Clinic Assistants, Ophthalmic Assistants, Patient Administrators, Nurses, ODPs, Ophthalmic Technicians, Optometrists, and Consultant Ophthalmologists. - A salary of £20,155 per annum FTE.

**What will the role involve?**

The Ophthalmic Assistant are the public face of Newmedica and are integral to the successful operation of outpatient clinics and theatre activity. You will be responsible for performing clinical tests and supporting the clinical assessment of each patient and for ensuring that all patients understand their treatment.

**What skills and experience do I need for the role?**

We are looking for individuals who have:
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATION
- Educated to A level standard or equivalent experience.
- GCSE Maths and English

EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE
- Proven customer service skills with a passion for customer care. Previous experience of working with patients or carers would be desirable although not essential.
- Ability to build a working knowledge of eye physiology and treatment. Previous experience is not expected.
- Fully computer literate - comfortable with Microsoft Office products and the ability to learn new patient record systems.
- Enjoys working with a range of people and can tailor their approach to a diversity of patient needs.
- Outstanding telephone manner with the ability to adapt approach to different situations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Committed to delivery of consistently high standards of patient care.
- Self-starter with the ability to work on own initiative, as well as working well within a team.
- Enjoys the routine and rhythm of a process driven environment.
- Comfortable making a significant contribution in a small team.
- Able to balance working independently with appropriate escalation.
- Committed to delivery of consistently high standards of testing and administration.
- Previous healthcare administration is desirable, but not essential.

SKILLS & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
- Enjoys working with a range of people and can tailor their approach to a diversity of patient needs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a good telephone manner.
- Excellent organisation skills and the ability to multi-task.
- Committed to delivery of consistently high standards of testing and administration.
