**PASTORAL TEACHING ASSISTANT**

An Outstanding Secondary School based in Tower Hamlets is looking for enthusiastic and passionate Pastoral Teaching Assistant to join their team.

This outstanding secondary school located in the borough of Tower Hamlets, are looking to recruit a Pastoral Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a very successful secondary school, that has a culture of high expectations of students and staff.With many students achieving outstanding results at A-Level, a high number go on to some of the countries top universities including Oxford and Cambridge. The school has great public transport links nearby with a tube and overground station within a 5-minute walk from the school. The roles are to start in September and will be for the full academic year.

**Pastoral Teaching Assistant**

Here lies the opportunity to join not only a great school, but a very successful department. The main purpose of this role is to provide SME (Social, Mental Health or Emotional Needs) guidance for students with SEND and where appropriate in class support.As a Pastoral Teaching Assistant, you will be required to build and maintain successful relationships with pupils with SME, physical and learning needs and their families. You will be working collaboratively with colleagues, ensuring your role is carried outeffectively, while having a team that you can turn to for help and advice when required. It is important that you are able to liaise sensitively and effectively with parents/carers and outside agencies, while taking an active role in professional developmentincluding through observation, evaluation ad discussion with colleagues.

As a Pastoral Teaching Assistant, you will be required to:

- Provide First Aid for students where necessary
- Provide Level 1 counselling for students when necessary
- Liaise with parents/carers as directed
- Provide in-class support for students
- Contribute to annual review planning for pupils with EHCP's
- To produce and maintain classroom and whole school resources and displays
- Meet the personal care and medical needs of students with SEND

You will also be required to:

- Implement specific programmes of support under the guidance of professionals including teachers, Inclusion teachers, Education Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, and others as directed
- Create and deliver clearly structured learning activities that enable students to be motivated and promote progress
- Contribute to the planning of opportunities for pupils to learn in and out of school contexts
- Select and prepare resources necessary to lead learning activities, taking into account pupils' interests, language and cultural backgrounds
- Support teachers in evaluating pupils' progress through a range of assessment activities
- Communicate effectively and sensitively with pupils to support their learning
- Use behaviour management strategies, in line with the schools' policy and procedures, which contribute to a purposeful learning environment
- Organise and manage safely the learning activities, the physical teaching space and resources for which you are given responsibility
- Work with students both in class, in small groups and one-to-one settings as appropriate.
