**Analytical Scientist / Laboratory Analyst**with a degree in analytical science (or similar) and experience of working within a relevant scientific analytical environment is required for a well-established health consultancy company basedin Waltham Abbey, Essex.

LC-MS/Mass Spectrometry method development and validation competence is essential for this role. ISO 17025 UKAS quality management systems experience is highly desirable.

**SALARY**:£25,000 - £30,000 per annum (depending on experience)

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for an Analytical Scientist / Laboratory Analystwith a degree in analytical science (or similar) and experience of working within a relevant scientific analytical environment.

Working as an Analytical Scientist / Laboratory Analyst you will perform routine analytical and non-analytical procedures necessary for the day to day running of the laboratory, with particular emphasis on the mass spectrometry methodologies.

As the Analytical Scientist / Laboratory Analyst you will perform method development and validation of the MS instruments.

**DUTIES**

Your duties as an Analytical Scientist / Laboratory Analyst will include:

- Be responsible for the efficient and effective throughput of samples for confirmation analysis daily and to become competent with all processes of the laboratory workflow
- Further develop the MS laboratories both with existing and additional methods / technologies
- Assist with procurement of additional analytical equipment when the service and workload demands
- Perform analytical test procedures according to Standard Operating Procedures and in line with Quality Control guidelines
- Maintain equipment, including calibrations and quality control
- Process biological specimens, including data entry and reporting
- Aid with training of staff
- Trouble shooting of equipment and process failures
- Participation in the investigation of non-conformances, planned deviations, changes, risks and improvements as required
- Handling customer enquiries and liaising with suppliers
- Monitor and maintain stock levels of reagents and other consumables and raising purchase orders
- Adhere to Health & Safety procedures to ensure safety of all staff
- Adhere to company policies and business systems manuals
- Assist with audits as required
- Maintain up to date knowledge through scientific journals and memberships of relevant organisations
- Produce statistical data as required
- Actively participate in meetings as required
- Participate in an annual appraisal
- Adhere to ISO 17025 and ISO 9001 requirements in testing and quality control procedures
- Ensure commitment to impartiality and confidentiality, integrity, and accessibility of information
- Adhering to all policy, procedure, regulatory, customer and standard requirements relating to quality, information security and environmental management systems

**CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS**
- Previous experience working within a relevant scientific analytical environment (Drugs of Abuse experience would be an advantage)
- A degree in analytical science, or similar
- LC-MS/MS method development and validation competence essential
- ISO 17025 UKAS quality management systems experience highly desirable
- Demonstration of a sharp mental awareness with attention to detail
- Excellent practical skills are essential
- Competent computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)
