The Royal National Lifeboat Institution is a charity that provides, on call, a 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service and a seasonal lifeguard service.

Our lifeboat crews and lifeguards need a dedicated, professional and talented team behind them.

This is an exciting time for the RNLI as we continually develop the Inshore Lifeboat Centre (ILC) in East Cowes, Isle of Wight, and our All-weather Lifeboat Centre (ALC) production and maintenance facility in Poole. The Inshore Lifeboat Centre manufactures and maintains the Inshore Lifeboat (ILB) fleet to the highest standards to survive the harshest of sea conditions.

This is an exceptional opportunity for two highly motivated individuals to undertake a four year apprenticeship with the Inshore Lifeboat Centre (ILC) within mechanics. During your programme you will attend college on a day release basis with the rest of your week spent putting your learning into practice in the workplace such as:

- Repairing and refitting outboard engines
- Metal component manufacture
- Mechanical component final assembly
- Introduction to welding processes

Ideally you will be educated to GCSE Grade 4 or above (or equivalent) including Maths, English and Science, however this is not essential. We also require an acceptable pass in the college assessment. Please note you may be required to attend the college assessment.

The successful applicant will be required to start in September 2023 prior to college commencing.
