Our client is a leading company, offering research services to the Drug Discovery sector. They collaborate with lead researchers and organisations to enhance the understanding of immunological, oncological, neurological and other disease areas. Based inAlderley Park, they are offering an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and hard-working individual to join their Discovery Sciences Team as an _in vitro_ Cellular Scientist with a focus on supporting _in vivo _ projects. **The Role**

This is a role for individuals who have several years’ experience in cell biology, either as a PhD student, or a PhD/BSc/MSc holder who has cell culture experience in industry. As a Cell Scientist, you will be responsible for maintaining various immortalisedmammalian cell lines to support and provide cell lines to the _in vivo _teams. You will draw on your extensive knowledge of cell biology and molecular biology. You will work in a collaborative environment, providing high quality work to improve drugdiscovery programmes.

General responsibilities will include:

- Cell culture and maintenance of various immortalised mammalian cell lines.
- Cell culture and maintenance of various primary and stem cell lineages.
- Maintaining a complex documentation and inventory system for all available cell types
- Liaising with _in vivo _teams to understand and fulfil their needs.
- Communicating and working with external biological contractors.
- Development of cell-based assays and potential 2D/3D cell culture methods to support _in vivo _teams.

**Skills and Experience Needed**:
Suitable applicants will have:

- A PhD or BSc / Master’s - Focused around cell biology (essential)
- Proven experience in cellular biology within a drug discovery or GMP setting (essential)
- Although you will not be conducting _in vivo _studies yourself, you must be comfortable with supporting _in vivo _functions as an _in vitro _scientist (essential)
- Experienced in immortalised mammalian cell culture e.g. HEK293, HeLa etc (essential)
- Strong communication skills (essential)
- Attention to detail (essential)
- A willingness to question and investigate situations which require it (essential)
- Previous experience using triple flask cell culture equipment (desired)
- Primary cell culture and stem cell culture (desired)
- Cell assay development experience (desired)
- 2D / 3D cell culture experience (desired)
- Reporter gene assay experience (desired)
