An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a team of professionals providing technical support across Norfolk Community Health & Care NHS Trust. This post is for an experienced Chief Technologist who will be required to carry out servicing and repair of a wide range of medical equipment

The post holder will manage the Clinical Engineering Department in conjunction with the Medical Device Managers, which will include the planning and co-ordination of preventative maintenance and repair workload across the Trust.

The post holder will provide clinical / technical expertise and leadership to the service. As the lead specialist, advise the Medical Devices Operational Manager in the development of policies and procedures relating to the management of medical equipment for the trust in the areas of expertise that the post covers.

The post holder will have experience in leadership and managing a team of engineers. Can demonstrate experience in delivery multiple projects. They will need to have a flexible approach to work & a high level of drive & ambition to help achieve organisational goals, attention to detail & professional integrity is essential.

The post holder will take a lead role as part of the Clinical Engineering Department providing repair, calibration and maintenance to a wide range of medical, diagnostic and therapeutic equipment.

Main duties and responsibilities

Clinical Scientific
1. To manage and lead the day-to-day operation of the clinical engineering department.
1. To be responsible for the implementation and management of the Trust’s equipment management database (E-Quip)
1. To manage, plan and co-ordinate the department’s preventative maintenance and repair workload for delivery of service across the trust. Manages changes in working practices and commission projects.
1. To support the process of medical equipment procurement and to manage acceptance testing and commissioning in the areas that the department covers.
1. To manage and be responsible for the quality standards and review quality manuals as and when required.
1. To liaise with the Medical Device Operational Manager and finance department regarding budgets and the trust asset registers.
1. To ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet the needs of the Trust, including the organisation of duty roster, on-call services as required, work allocation.
2. Undertake all line managing duties and responsibilities for the engineers - maintain personal file record.
3. To oversee the work and organise the training of Junior and Specialist staff.
1. To ensure that appropriate documentation and records are maintained for all work carried out.
