**Main Purpose of post**:To offer children a safe, secure, caring and supportive environment, providing opportunities to foster their growth and development within the nursery.

**Hours of work**: Monday to Friday 30+ hrs per week. (Occasional Saturdays for training and team building).

**Qualifications required for role**: Minimum Level 2 in Children's Care Learning and Development or equivalent qualification in accordance with the Social Care Wales List of Required Qualifications.

**Main Responsibilities**:

- To work within our Early Years Team, supporting the planning and implementation of activities within individual or groups of children; promoting effective teaching and learning.
- To be part of our Early Years Team that provides a purposeful, stimulating environment rich in learning opportunities, both indoors and outdoors.
- To promote the inclusion of all children within our Equal Opportunities policy.
- To use professional knowledge of the individual and diverse ways that children learn and develop, to meet their differing needs. To establish positive and sensitive relationships with children. To act as a positive role model and set achievable expectations.
- To be responsible for organising the environment inside and outside to ensure that resources and equipment are available and appropriate to meet the needs of the individual children in the group. These activities will take into account children’s abilities interests, language and cultural backgrounds.
- To support the team to monitor and evaluate children's learning through a range of assessment and monitoring strategies.
- To provide objective and accurate feedback and reports for parents and other professionals on children’s achievements, progress and related matters.
- To develop positive and sensitive relationships with parents and carers to support their role in children's learning. To provide constructive feedback on children’s progress/achievement, on a day-to-day basis or through parent meetings.
- To be proactive in the continuation of your own learning to improve the outcomes for children and their families.
- To have a clear knowledge of and adhere to all Health and Safety Regulations. Recording accidents in the accident book. Ensure the manager is provided with the accident report daily.
- To comply and assist with the development of Golden Manor Nursery policies and procedures.
- To attend meetings as required and participate in training opportunities and performance development.
- To carry out specific childcare tasks to include washing and changing children as required, cleaning up and disposing of body waste, ensuring mealtimes are a time of pleasant social sharing and providing comfort and warmth to children
- To attend all out of hours activities such as open day, parents evenings, monthly meetings and training days.
- To undertake any duties set to you by the Management Team that will assist in the day
- to-day running of the nursery.
- To be flexible within working practices of nursery. Be prepared to help where needed, including to undertake certain domestic jobs within the Nursery, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment etc.
- Work alongside the manager and staff team to ensure that the philosophy behind the nursery is fulfilled.
- Record accidents
- Look upon the nursery as a "whole" where can your help be most utilised, be constantly aware of the needs of children.
- Ensure child is collected by someone known to nursery (Please see Golden Manors Health and Safety Policy)
- To respect the confidentiality of information received. (Please see Golden Manors Confidentiality Policy)
- To support the nursery’s commitment on Eco School, Healthy Pre School, Quality For All, Forest School and Welsh activities
- Other reasonable duties as determined by management

**Additional Information**

**This **post is exempt from The Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 as the position involves working within the close proximity of young children. The post holder will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure.*
