At our recently upgraded site at King George Dock we operate the UK’s largest refinery for edible oils and fats. We supply businesses in the sectors of food manufacturing, baking, foodservice and retail, and we work closely with customers to co-develop bespokeproducts.
**About the role**
AAK are seeking to appoint an edible oil Refinery Production Manager to join the Production team at Site Hull. This is a Monday to Friday, days role and will report into the Plant Manager.
**Main responsibilities will include**:
- Develop and implement refinery processes and procedures and allocate labour and capital resources to maximise productivity.
- Work with the operations and maintenance departments to use leading and lagging metrics to improve safety performance on site.
- Ensure all refinery employees are appropriately trained for the job and that hazard identification and risk management are part of the normal way of working.
- Fully participate and take ownership for the Health and Safety and Food Safety standards on site, using root cause analysis to lift performance where required.
- Ensure the quality and food safety management system is the normal operating mode.
- Use a systematic approach to drive performance in refinery process optimisation, including - yield improvement, process aid reduction, energy optimisation and waste reduction.
- Implement and maintain an effective system to drive performance in the refinery - engaging technicians, setting stretch targets and short cycle closure of root causes.
- Ensure effective and continuous development of the people within the refinery department, from Shift Managers to Technician level.
- Responsible for the effective cost control of the refining operation, ensuring tight control of expenditure, and having a proactive approach to controlling costs without affecting refinery performance.
- Work alongside the Maintenance department to optimise asset reliability. Through effective root cause analysis, identify the role that technicians play in optimising reliability, working closely with them to improve work practices.
- Stand in for Factory Production Management team when required.
- Represent the Refinery on a daily, weekly, monthly basis in key operational meetings.
**About you**
Operational experience in the following would be desirable:
- Chemical refining
- Bleaching
- Deodorisation
- Hydrogenation
- Interesterification
- Dry Fractionation
- Education at equivalent of Level 5 (HND) in a relevant field (Engineering/ Food science/ Manufacturing)
- Previous experience in a similar role is essential, with a proven track record of implementing improvements and driving performance in a similar facility
- Qualified to HACCP level 2 is advantageous
- Previous experience in managing behavioural and process safety in a similar facility
- Industrial Health and Safety knowledge
