Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Assistant to join our team. As a Laboratory Assistant, you will provide support to our laboratory operations and assist our scientific staff in conducting experiments, analyzing samples, and maintaining a safe and efficient working environment. Your role will be crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory and contributing to the overall success of our research and development efforts.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assist laboratory personnel in setting up and conducting experiments, following established protocols and procedures.
- Prepare and sterilize equipment and supplies for laboratory use.
- Collect, handle, and prepare samples for analysis, maintaining accuracy and integrity throughout the process.
- Perform basic laboratory tests and measurements under supervision.
- Record and document experimental data, observations, and test results accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain and organize laboratory inventory, ensuring supplies are stocked and equipment is properly maintained.
- Assist in the maintenance of laboratory safety protocols and procedures, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Clean and maintain laboratory equipment, glassware, and work areas to ensure a clean and safe working environment.
- Collaborate with other laboratory staff to troubleshoot issues and resolve problems that may arise during experiments or laboratory procedures.
- Stay updated on new laboratory techniques, technologies, and safety protocols through continuous learning and professional development.

Qualifications:

- University Graduate; additional education or experience in coatings and paints is a plus.
- Previous experience working in a laboratory environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with basic laboratory equipment, instruments, and techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and protocols accurately.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office or similar software.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and protocols.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced and evolving work environment.

Pay: £23,000.00-£25,000.00 per year

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Harrogate: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
