We have a fantastic opportunity for an Associate 2-4 PQE to join our real estate team to be based in Cheltenham.

With our other UK and international offices your horizons for the work and clients you will get involved with are limitless-all from our Cheltenham office.

We are looking for a junior lawyer to work with the Firm’s Landed Estates and Urban Estates clients, on a wide range of work including development, investment sales and purchases, leasing and asset management and renewable energy matters. There will be a particular focus on strategic land development work.

The role will suit someone who has excellent people skills who is looking to develop their career within a friendly collegiate team that is widely recognised for its expertise. The team works closely with the Firm’s real estate, Tax/Trusts and Private Property teams across all of the UK offices. We offer a dedicated personal service for our clients; we work hard to develop and build lasting relationships and truly get to know our clients to deliver a premium service.

Naomi Nettleton, Partner, advises commercial clients on complex and challenging property transactions in both the commercial and residential spheres. She leads the firm’s hotels focus group.

Nigel Morton, Partner, advises commercial clients on residential investment and development and acts for a wide range of clients from landowners to investment funds. The recruit will, therefore, develop broad experience in Real Estate before developing a more specialised role.

Role and Responsibilities (this is a broad but not exhaustive list):

- Deliver a highly efficient, professional and creative service to the existing clients of the department
- Deliver advice of the highest technical competence, including in relation to complex portfolio sales and purchases and developments
- Ensure the retention of clients allocated to him/her and further enhancement of our relationship with them
- Proactively seek to work with other Group members in the marketing of the firm’s services and the expansion of the Real Estate’s business of the firm
- Assist when requested with the cover of the cases of other Group fee earners during holidays or their absences abroad on business
- Contribute to the smooth administration of the Real Estate Group’s business
- Demonstrate a background in landlord and tenant work, corporate support and investment acquisitions and disposals
- Demonstrate good judgement and a good legal and commercial understanding of clients’ particular needs
- Understand scope of task, manage time effectively and perform well under time and work pressures
- Be a strong team player
- Demonstrate good attention to detail
- Draft accurately and logically
- Build rapport with clients and develop an effective working relationship
- Attend and assist in organising and hosting of client marketing events
- Be flexible and willing to go the extra mile
- Have excellent all round IT skills, MS Office including Excel and Word
- Provide legal advice to clients in a succinct, practical and persuasive manner
- Manage a substantial and varied workload efficiently and cost effectively with supervision, appropriate to level of expertise
- Draft accurately and logically, making appropriate use of precedents
- Contribute to divisional knowledge and know-how initiatives

- An ability to win the confidence of clients, members of the Real Estate team and the wider firm
- Effective, sound decision making and excellent organisational skills

- Skills to support other Group members in their service, including through thorough and accurate research in technically difficult areas and concise presentation of the same

- knowledge / experience of landlord and tenant, secured lending, investment sales and purchases work
