**Background**

**CDT+ Overview**

CENTRE-UB is a brand new ESRC-funded Centre for Doctoral Training Plus located at the University of Birmingham. It provides national training and research opportunities for postdoctoral fellows and postgraduate researchers, and for employees of external private and public sector organisations. Its focus is on understanding behaviour and how behaviour can be the cause and solution to many pressing challenges facing our society. The Centre is multidisciplinary and outward looking - we believe that to understand behaviour, you need to view it through the lens of different disciplines and appreciate that human behaviour is embedded within multiple systems.

**Role Summary**

The Training Fellow will be responsible for the management, co-coordination and delivery of CENTRE-UB’s training programme. This will involve working closely with the Training Director (Dr Vicky Goodyear), the CDT+ Director, Centre Manager and Leadership and Training Boards, who will provide strategic oversight and guidance. This includes developing training materials. As part of this role, the post holder will also: liaise with CENTRE-UB Fellows, Mentors and Placement Providers to ensure smooth-running of the training programme; monitor and report on training elements to the management board; collate and prepare training information for the website; contribute to reports to ESRC that summarise training activities; capture details of training success stories; and support CENTRE-UB’s social media activities and providing content for the website. In particular, they will have responsibility for administering and managing the placements for the CENTRE-UB Fellows and for events such as the Fellow’s induction and careers/futures events. They will contribute to the production of the Centre’s training strategy developed under the supervision of the Training Director, and in consultations with the GSCU post holder. With the CDT+ Director, they will develop and implement strategies for the sustainability of CENTRE-UB which includes assessing and meeting the market appetite for CDP in the UK, and maintaining a live record of the ongoing impact of the CDT+.

**Main Duties**
- Evaluate CENTRE-UB’s training provision on an on-going basis, and provide specialist advice and guidance on methods to improve CENTRE-UB’s training effectiveness.
- Develop and oversee the training offered within CENTRE-UB in consultation with the Training Director, the GSCU post holder, and other stakeholders, and in line with best practice for online learning.
- Work with the Training Director and the Government Skills and Curriculum Unit (GSCU) post holder to map training needs taking account of partner needs, PGR/fellow needs and training already offered within the UK.
- Contribute to the development of the CENTRE-UB training strategy.
- Create training materials and outward communications for CENTRE-UB.
- Contribute to external events (e.g., roadshows, public engagement events). This will include occasional travel and overnight stays.
- Administer and manage the placements for CENTRE-UB Fellows affiliated with CENTRE-UB.
- Arrange events to support the CENTRE-UB Fellows (e.g., induction, careers and futures events).
- Assess and meet the market appetite for CPD within the UK.
- Contribute to developing and maintaining partnerships to ensure the sustainability of CENTRE-UB.
- Coordinating bespoke training from external partners and organisations.
- Support the Centre Manager in the day-to-day running of CENTRE-UB.
- Support the collation and presentation of evidence for KPIs and work with the CDT+ Director (Woodhams) and the Marketing and Communications team to produce the annual Centre report.
- Contribute to meetings of the Training Board and of the Impact Board.
- Work with external partners and the GSCU post to plan the content of roadshows.
- Promote the CENTRE-UB training programme internally and externally.
