Please note: The job includes the option of full time employment in school holidays boosting the employees salary;
There are 9 weeks of Forest school Holiday delivery across the year, excluding Christmas school holidays. These take place on Hampstead Heath for full day sessions with extended day until 4pm for working parents.
Hours are 10am - 3.00pm (25 Hours per week)
Additional Holiday club hours to be arranged with the Directors.
£625.00 per week (£25.00 per hour) dependant on experience.
Rate: £5,625.00 PA
We operate during the following holidays:
- February Half Term(1 week)
- Easter Holidays (2 weeks)
- May Half Term (1 week)
- Summer Holidays (4 weeks)
- October Half Term(1 week)
Job Description and Person Specification
We are looking for dedicated Lead Facilitator, that is willing to commit energetically to the job and is dedicated to the ethos of Forest School in its true form of experiential child initiated exploration.
You will be used to working independently and managing your own time effectively
Our sessions are based on a 12- week program of learning and development and concentrate on facilitating child led and group-initiated activities.
You will have a strong background in the management of an Outdoor Education setting and the ability to communicate our educational ethos to parents and to deliver exciting and age-appropriate sessions to our children.
You will need to be organised, safety conscious, used to writing, updating and using Risk Assessments, and confident in leading a team of assistants - allocating responsibilitie.
You will enjoy communicating with parents. You will be able to monitor, reflect on and initiate activities to progress individual students following a social, emotional, physical and intellectual framework.
You will also be responsible for ensuring that any additional health, medical or learning needs that the children have are met.

The lead Facilitator will Oversee all aspects of the After School and schools’ sessions and clubs:
The Lead facilitator is responsible for:
- Planning termly session plans for 12 weeks of Forest school delivery
- leading and delivering of dynamic and enjoyable outdoor sessions to children and young people aged 5 -11 years, in a safe and positive environment.
- communicating effectively with parents / carers / Schools at drop-off, pick-up and at various other points throughout the week ensuring that all family members / schools are reassured and updated on their childrens progression and happy with the Forest school provision and care.
- Provide assertive and supportive leadership to your team, ensuring that good punctuality and high standards are being met, allocating responsibilities, whilst promoting a motivating and vibrant team spirit.
- Ensure that the pastoral needs of the children are met with active supervision, action planning and care throughout the day including breaks and lunch times.
- Be the main point of contact for day-to-day interaction with the parents / carers / schools teams.
- Conduct regular session observations on individual children, developing behaviour and learning action plans to help children adjust both physically and mentally and provide feedback and evaluation to Urban Outdoors Team to support the further development.
- Ensure the communication and implementation of all Urban Outdoors Policies & Procedures at each session; Health and safety, Risk assessments, behaviour management policy, safeguarding, GDPR and Photographs, emergency and accident reporting, Equal Opportunities statements.
- Take ultimate responsibility for all First Aid at camp, including delivery if needed and ensuring that all procedures are followed, reported and followed up.
- Manage any emergency following the emergency action plan
- Manage daily administration including sign in/out of children, briefings and timetabling as required.
- Manage the dynamic risk assessments for the sessions
- Manage medications and ECHP / additional needs of SEN children with liaison and support from Urban Outdoors and parents and schools

Upbeat, fun and enthusiastic and used to mentoring in the outdoors
You will be the face of Urban Outdoors Adventures in Nature Forest School so able to always put your best foot forward and spin a positive angle. You will need to be in touch with your warrior style and genuinely enjoy to _play_.
- You will be trained to Forest School Leader Level 3
- You will be physically fit and able to carry a load and / or pull an equipment trolly over rough terrain
- You will hold a Current up-to-date Outdoor and Paediatric First Aid certificate
- You will hold a current up to date DBS certificate
- You will hold Current up to date Safeguarding children and child protection Certificate
- You will have a strong background in leading Forest School sessions for children and young people, specifically with those aged 5 - 11.
